More fascinating and important research on Yersinia pestis. Having given the lecture on plague for HIST216 Death: From the Fall of Rome to the Reformation @LancasterHistor the day this article was published, it's a speedy update of the reading list in time for coursework!
VERY IMPORTANT new article on the Justinianic Plague in sixth-century England by the wonderful John Hines, already rendering redundant a very recently published article on the subject (some of us had been given the heads-up on this so knew what was coming…)

Clare Egan (@lancaster_words) and Jonathan Healey in Lancaster Library at @Litfest’s Autumn Weekend. @SocialHistoryOx asks what if parliamentarians like Thomas Rainsborough or John Lambert rather than Cromwell had emerged as leaders? Would there have been a civil war?

Enthralling working with @CaravaggiDr & the undergraduate historians of @LancasterHistor on Death: From the Fall of Rome to the Reformation. Kicking off with barrows, burials & tombs c.500-1500; next up, the battlefield dead.
First day of teaching #medievaldeath with @RG1253 at @LancasterHistor - over the next 10 weeks we'll take students on a 1000 year journey through history, art & archaeology, from catacombs to the late-medieval macabre, going of course via #Dante's Afterlife... and much more!

Many are anxious at the thought of attending or presenting at a conference. Anna Drury discusses her experience of organising and then attending the LHPC.

Looking forward to exploring medieval murder investigations w/ students @LancasterHistor in 'Death: From the Fall of Rome to the Reformation', via @MediMurderMaps. From forensics to witness testimony, how were homicides uncovered? Some dark case histories: https://t.co/kM8sXT5bX0
