No. They don't need to get anyone's permission. They need to have a basic responsibility towards socially progressive values though. A major English news portal showing lack of sensitivity towards hate speech towards women in politics is absence of ethics.

For example this is a post in a FB page run by a SJB politician. This is how politics is handled in the real world. They are making it difficult for anyone to stand with the LGBTQ community implying whoever does especially women are lesbians themselves.

Instead they opened up the gates for speculation about my sexual orientation. All of this is leaning towards the campaign by the opposition calling women MPs lesbians. They don't call me a lesbian to support LGBTQ rights they do it to discredit me on everything I say.

When is it ever politically convenient to stand up for the LGBTQ community? My voice is not attached to that photo. It's someone else's opinion. It simply has me as a prop to be hated. If DM asked if I still stand for LGBTQ rights I would have answered. They never did.

Asked @Jamz5251 how DM digital medium selected a photo of me from 2017 for an opinion piece not written by me. There's an online hate speech campaign against both the LGBTQ community and women politicians. Guess this is her response. No wonder DM is so brazen.
Dear NPP backbenchers… if you are calling to threaten me, pls call through the normal call & not WhatsApp calls. Many times you guys are too excited on the phone & the calls break up & I can’t hear your words. Normal calls make me hear you clearly. Thank you 🙏
