LSU’s Creative Writing program was founded in 1968 by David Madden. Our fully-funded MFA is nearly 40 years old. Home to @deltajournal and @ndrmag.

LSU's MFA in Creative Writing is where writers geaux to grow! With our three-year, fully funded program, you have the ability to focus on your writing and learn from our award-winning faculty and visiting authors. Applications are open and are due January 15th, 2025.

GRADUATE STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Alejandra Vansant is from the Eastern Shore of Virginia, but currently writes in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her work can be found in Tilted House, Volume Poetry, Alabama Literary Review, as well as many homemade books and zines. Huge congrats, Alejandra!

GRADUATING STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: A native of South Texas, Rose Marie Torres has focused on creative nonfiction and screenwriting. She received support from Tin House and appears in The Good Life Review, Hothouse, and more. In her free time, Rose is a karaoke enthusiast. Congrats!

GRADUATING STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Sunny Rosen is from Newark, Delaware. Her work has appeared in The Chicago Review and Taco Bell Quarterly, among other outlets. For her thesis, she completed a novel entitled Ocean Bluffs. We are so lucky to know her!

Current LSU MFA Rose Marie Torres published her flash piece, "I like when my ass hangs out of my shorts" with @goodlifelitmag last week! She also attended the 2025 Tin House Workshop for creative nonfiction, working with @lillydancyger this past winter. Congratulations Rose!

Help us in congratulating one of our graduating MFAs! Kayla Jackson is an interdisciplinary artist from New Orleans. She earned a Master of Arts in English Literature from Tulane in 2018 and is now set to graduate from Louisiana State University. Congratulations, Kayla!

MFA Alum Parker Logan has been busy! Parker has several forthcoming publications in Main Squeeze, Dishsoap Quarterly, Disco Kitchen, and Variant Literature. Most recently, Logan published “Anyway” and “Talking to My Dad About Poetry” in Voicemail Poems and Rougarou Journal!
