McConnell’s speech calling Trump responsible for the Capitol riot isn’t enough. McConnell must go down in history as an abettor of a dictator. America is without hope, having such unprincipled people pretending allegiance to it and being tolerated.

U.S. needs a requirement that a candidate commit to respecting democratic elections or be removed from ballot. R.’s unwilling to adopt such a requirement in their party should also be barred from office. Democracy is over in US if we allow dictatorship enthusiasts in Senate, WH.

The Times is also right McConnell did too little too late. Trump should have been removed for treason and for openly stating his unwillingness to respect our system of government and the principle of electoral democracy long, long ago. His enablers belong in Profiles in Perfidy.
