Thanks @PaintingsLondon for sharing this impactful painting in our collection. Both the subject Gillian 'Bobbie' Tanner & the artist Mary Pitcairn were Auxiliary Firewomen. They had bravely volunteered to join the Auxiliary Fire Service in #WWII to protect London & Londoners.
