fails to mention that the coach driver paid by the Home Office to abduct our friends this morning was arrested for racially abusing a community member resisting this racist state violence. Below he calls them a ‘black b*stard’
Content note: racist abuse
It is totally unacceptable that police officers were assaulted by violent protesters who attempted to disrupt Immigration teams.
They have my full backing in taking the most robust action possible & I want to thank them for their swift response to the incidents today.
Compare how violent fascists are discussed by govt & in the media versus predominantly young black people demonstrating against state violence. We are seeing in real time how far right violence is minimised while those demonstrating for justice are immediately criminalised
"We have seen a small minority behave in extreme thuggery and violent behaviour."
Home Secretary Priti Patel has condemned "shameful scenes" in London, including the "desecration" of PC Keith Palmer's memorial.

The Met is arresting any black people they’re seeing around central London this evening while the fascists got to go home after a day of violence. There’s no question here about who is being targeted and criminalised and it isn’t the fascists
The cops are mopping up groups of young black people in the vicinity of Trafalgar Square, Leciester Square and Hyde Park. Had between 30-40 detained, searched and arrested in the last 1.5-2 hours
An incredible show of solidarity in Peckham today, in the face of brute force from the police.
Our community stopped the Home Office from kidnapping our friends + neighbours today. They will return, please keep an eye out for updates

As ever big up the volunteers organising through the night to make sure that people arrested at vigils are supported. This isn’t paid work, it’s networks of material solidarity we have developed to protect our communities against the generations old violence of policing.
If you’re marching in London tomorrow, basic know your rights information is below. If you see legal observers handing out physical bust cards with this info, take one for your reference.
It’s never as easy as blaming one politician, one police Commissioner, or changing one law. Policing in Britain originates from policing of its former colonies. No reform can make police less violent, less murderous or less patriarchal - this is what they do. Defund and abolish.
FAO those who came to the Chris Kaba solidarity demo yesterday, or plan to make future demos. The Socialist Worker Party (SWP), which hands out the placards pictured, was involved in a cover up of rape and sexual assault perpetrated by a senior figure in the party.
We have been working hard with comrades in

and others to put together resources for communities around the new police powers. You will be able to download the leaflet/poster template below from our site soon
Our thoughts are with the people who were deported to Jamaica this morning and their families who have been left without their loved ones. While we shouldn’t be surprised that the state acts with impunity, it is heartening to see increasing mobilisation against state violence
This isn’t about one racist ‘rotten apple’, it’s a feature of a racist border regime that kidnaps & locks up our community members through brute force.
But our communities won’t give up, we’ll keep resisting as long as it takes.

This is an old trick. Countless black and poc organisers have been targeted in the British press when they raise their heads above the parapet to speak about structural racist violence in this country. The press is complicit in upholding racist structures:
Solidarity always with all women who face police violence and harassment including sex workers, undocumented women, survivors of domestic violence, women facing eviction from their homes and, of course, women who face interpersonal violence from individual police officers.
Young people at BLM demos are more likely to face arrest and police force than violent fascists. Fascist ideology is less of a threat to the state than those on the side of liberation & justice. Remember these moments if you still have any doubts about Britain’s racism.
Content warning: video of police violence. This is gut-wrenching & unbelievably violent. The
@metpoliceuk
and the establishment repeatedly claim that Black people here don’t experience the same violence as in the US, while The Met’s own officers continue to demonstrate otherwise.
URGENT CALL OUT: Riot police have turned up at the autonomous winter shelter. The residents have been threatened with arrest and are in need of support from those who can make it down:

The causes of youth violence are not simply that young people are unaware of the dangers they face. This is not only racist, but deeply condescending to young people who are pathologised and criminalised while receiving none of the material support they need from state agencies.

CN: suicide
This is a national scandal. 11 refugee young people have committed suicide after being repeatedly failed by institutions. Meanwhile, the Government is currently introducing more legislation to make life even more impossible for refugees arriving to the U.K.
At least 11 unaccompanied teenage boys, from Eritrea, Ethiopia and Afghanistan, have taken their own lives after arriving in the UK. We have written to Nadine Dorries, Minister for suicide prevention, along with 46 other organisations, demanding an inquiry.

Police lie all the time, especially about incidents involving them. The worst thing isn’t even that they lie, but that the media, journalists, politicians and commentators will uphold and repeat those lies without question and this is somehow normal
In countries such as France, we are already seeing now a national lockdown enforced by police gives them increased mandate to abuse and harass those of us who have always been targets of police force due to our race, class and migration status.
Solidarity with everyone facing brute force from Avon and Somerset police in Bristol last night. We know The Met doesn’t have a monopoly on brutality and violence by any means. A reminder to others: please be mindful about sharing videos where protestors’ faces are identifiable
A lot of us worked all hours behind the scenes to ensure that protestors were supported after being kettled for hours & criminalised by police at protests over the last week. We couldn’t have done it without the countless volunteers who came together to support. We will win 💞
Big big love to all those who coordinated taxis home for protesters who’d been kettled till 3 or waited outside police stations so that arrestees could be met by a safe and friendly face. And mad respect for the legal observers,

This is staggering. Firstly, don’t listen to police advice on anything, especially on how to deal with police violence. Secondly, this is why building entire community mobilisation against police presence needs to be a priority. We have a long history & knowledge of this already.
We try to limit sharing videos of police violence against black and other people of colour, migrant, disabled & working class communities. Our communities have always faced police violence and we know that circulating traumatic images on social media won’t alleviate this.
Fundraiser to support the legal costs of individuals who were arrested while resisting an immigration raid in Dalston recently. Please donate and share if you can
❗️Every NYE people across the world come together to demonstrate outside prisons & remind those inside they’re not alone. Even if the pandemic prevents us doing this in person, we want to continue this tradition of solidarity. Write to a prisoner
#nocages
And remember:
❌ Do not speak to police
❓If you are stopped by police, ask ‘under what power?’
🙅🏾♀️If police try to search your phone, do not give consent
😷Keep others safe, wear a mask
🥷Cover up. Wear non-identifiable clothing
❤️ Look after each other. We keep each other safe
Of course what this doesn’t tell you is that most people don’t complain about police conduct during a stop & search because they don’t see any point in it, not because the police behave respectfully.
Cressida Dick says Met has received an “extremely low” number of complaints re stop-search & says it leads to a “high” number of arrests & “positive outcomes”. She confirms Met is expanding fast with over 32,000 officers expected to be in post in September, up 3000 on 2018
As the state hammers the authoritarian message about people being “serious offenders” it serves as a reminder for us that we have to be extra clear in our response: no matter what crimes people commit, they don’t deserve to be removed from the country of their home.
As ever

people got the police involved, accusing a couple of young men of pickpocketing. They have just been searched by police who found nothing. Now the police are doing an immigration check on them. Potential deportation for at worst some petty theft. Well done XR.
We don’t need more police, or better trained police, or more PoC in the police force. We need to constantly challenge the power police have over the rest of us to act with violence & impunity.
For those travelling to New Scotland Yard right now - please be careful while travelling through surrounding streets as this is where police vans are gathered
Cops have moved their response teams to backstreets . territorial support group vans (the heavy squad, basically) are ready around tube stations in the vicinity of the protest out of sight of the main streets
To make this as clear as possible: never trust anything police say. If they tell you the sky is blue, double & triple check the sky before you accept what they’ve said. Police lie and misdirect about anything - they lie to protect each other, they lie to abuse, they lie for fun
Institutional racism means that stop and search is still treated as a neutral tactic for keeping the public safe. The reality is that it gives police free reign to profile and use violence against racialised communities. These proposed changes will make this worse.
Here is something we published with comrades in
@ukblm

Today I witnessed the true horror of forced "immigration removals" on a flight out of Heathrow. A Bangladeshi man was screaming bloody murder as four white guards assured passengers that he'd stop screaming for his life when we took off.
The party prints placards for events like this, where we come together to commemorate victims of state violence and mourn, to try and generate interest/membership for their party. If you see them handing out placards at demos, please reconsider taking one.
Come out and support a community demonstration against police violence in Tottenham today. Details below + it’ll be another hot day so please stay hydrated 💦
UK Black Lives Matter stand in solidarity with the people of Tottenham.
This Saturday at Tottenham Police Station, a protest against the violence, tasers, searches and cuffing of the racist metropolitan police.
Please come down and show your support
For those of us struggling in solidarity with working class victims of racist state violence, we must be unequivocal in this message and not fall into the trap of having to exonerate people of suspected criminality, as politicians and others end up doing.
This is the MP of a man who’s still in hospital following violent police restraint earlier this week justifying the level of force that was used against him
Sadly some friends were taken to Bibby this morning and some comrades arrested.
Huge thanks to all who came out. Resisting as a community requires every one of us. Please support in future if you didn’t today.
We’ll be supporting our arrested comrades for the rest of today.
📢 STAND DOWN - DRISCOLL HOUSE📢
💔This morning’s removal is over. 5-6 of our friends were taken by the Home Office to the Bibby Stockholm.
Thank you to everyone who turned out

Janet Alder has struggled against the state for decades to get justice for her brother, including being spied on by police. Please support this if you can:
In 1998 Christopher Alder died in police custody surrounded by Humberside officers. In 2011 his family discovered they'd been given the wrong body to bury: his remains were in a mortuary in Hull.
Take one act of solidarity today - donate to this appeal
A timely reminder from
@tayjordan1up
We can commit to expressing deep and lasting solidarity with Black communities that are terrorised by police in the US, while not undermining the scale of death and violence perpetrated by the police in the UK.
Police violence is never simply the product of police themselves. It’s also excused & encouraged by others in institutional power & their collaborators who support violent consequences for anyone the police decide is guilty

On New Year’s Eve, people across the world head to prisons to make noise in solidarity with those incarcerated. We do the same at Brixton Prison from 6pm. However you go on to see in the new year, why not start things off with some solidarity?
You can read more about the case and how the party mobilised to protect an abuser, while undermining the victims, in the articles linked below (content warning: references to sexual violence)

Hey, thanks for highlighting. Does this person want to talk about options they might be able to take in terms of pursuing a formal complaint?
@MonitoringGroup
Please be mindful of the impact that circulating traumatic and violent images of police violence might have on others. Please content note anything you share with “police violence” where you can. Do try and tag in groups who might be able to help.
It would be great if groups such as
@ICFreeUK
,
@NExclusions
, teachers’ unions, concerned parents, young people and others could join up in campaigning against the horrific proposal to introduce more state violence in schools. We’re happy to link people up and support.
Absolutely not! We don’t need cops in schools. As we’ve seen in the US, this just leads to harassment of Black and brown kids and further strengthens the school to prison pipeline. Schools need funding for school counsellors and real support for students.
@ICFreeUK
