On Sunday 7th April 2024 LBCV is due to be working in the scrape on Walthamstow Marshes. This task will aid the Creeping Marshwort Helosciaidum repens. This location in Walthamstow Marshes Nature Reserve is one of only three in the UK that Creeping Marshwort can be found.

UPDATE 6th April 2024 The scrape is too wet to be worked in, so the task has changed to bed wall clearance at the Waterworks Nature Reserve.

Your kindness can kill a bumblebee πŸ’” πŸ“’ Please share! Bumblebee queens are starting to emerge from hibernation. British weather isn’t always ideal and people with the best intentions can cause more harm good. Let’s change that. 🧡1/5

Creeping Marshwort is currently listed as Endangered in theΒ Red Data Book for Great Britain. Threats include habitat loss, loss of grazing and lack of management. See https://t.co/7OLgYEsz8G on how to volunteer with us, basically just turn up at the Waterworks centre...

Most UK bat species evolved to use trees as roosts, while many also forage in woodland. In addition, trees provide excellent commuting habitats. Only 13% of the UK’s total land area is covered in trees compared to an average of 46% in Europe #NationalTreeWeek
