In honor of Black History Month we recognize Deputy Chief Gerald Woodyard, who joined the LAPD in 1994 and currently serves as the Commanding Officer of Operations, South Bureau.

In recognition of Black History Month we honor Regina Scott, who in 2011 became the LAPD’s first Black female Commander. In another “first, she went on to later become the Department’s first Black female Deputy Chief in 2018.

In honor of Black History Month we recognize Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton, who joined the LAPD in 1990 and currently serves as the Commanding Officer of Operations, Valley Bureau.

In honor of Black History Month we recognize Sergeant Jerretta Sandoz, who in 2014 became the first Black Director of the Los Angeles Police Protective League since its formation in 1922.

In honor of Black History Month we recognize Sergeant Bridgette Peterson who in 2003 became the first Black female Motor officer. To present date, she continues to proudly protect and serve the community as a motor sergeant as seen during the recent Super Bowl deployment.

In recognition of Black History Month we honor Ann Young, who in 2000 became the Department’s first Black female Captain.

In honor of Black History Month we recognize Commander Al Neal, who joined the LAPD in 1993 and currently serves as the Assistant Commanding Officer of Operations, Central Bureau.

In honor of Black History Month we recognize Deputy Chief Emada Tingirides. She joined the LAPD in 1995, and in 2020 was appointed by Chief Moore to oversee the newly formed Community Safety Partnership Bureau.
