With the Government’s decision to renegotiate the terms of the licensing deal, LANDS is reaffirming our position for the renationalisation of distribution and to separate distribution from generation of energy. Our position can be viewed at
The Government has notified the Jamaica Public Service company it will not renew its licence which expires in July 2027. Energy minister Daryl Vaz says the current arrangements are "deeply flawed" and the Gov’t intends to negotiate new licensing terms with potential investors.
