Former FBI Director James Comey is no longer scheduled for a deposition w/ @GOPoversight as part of the cmte’s Epstein investigation. Comey submitted a letter stating that he has no relevant “knowledge and information” about the matter.

The House is no longer coming back next week. @SpeakerJohnson said this am that "the House will come back into session and do its work as soon as Chuck Schumer allows us to reopen the government.” The House was last in session on Sept. 19 when it passed the CR.

During his presser this am, @SpeakerJohnson brought up Trump's post that depicted @RepJeffries in a sombrero. "These are side shows," Johnson said. "People are getting caught up in battles over social media memes." His message to Jeffries: "Just ignore it."

NEW: Trump's Budget Director told House Rs this afternoon that reductions in force will happen in the next “one to two” days, sources tell me & @news_jul Vought issued a memo last week threatening mass layoffs in the event of a shutdown. He didn't outline specifics on the call.

Dean brought up President Trump’s post that falsely depicted Jeffries wearing a sombrero.   “You don't see that as racist? We need you desperately to lead.”   Johnson responded that he respected Dean.   “That’s why I’m talking to you,” she said.

Speaker Johnson and @RepDean had an animated convo ahead of the looming shutdown, in which Dean called on the speaker to bring the House back into session. This was in view of several reporters outside the House chamber.
