We’re excited to share the next step in our pursuit of weak ligands: the successful coordination of an alkane and characterisation and isolation of its complex. Many thanks to our cooperation partners at the UNSW Sydney, who made the characterisation in solution possible.
Why does n-Pentane coordinate towards the 16 VE fragment [Mn(CO)5]+. The answer is simple: it is the best ligand available in this system. Read about the necessary conditions here @KrossingGroup @Malte_Sellin @James_DWatson #AngewandteVIP #openaccess 🔓

Coating or doping (or maybe both)? This question is investigated in Fritz Wortelkamps paper on using an (H2AlOtBu)2 precursor to coat NaCrO2 active cathode material and improve its performance. Read the whole article here #SodiumIon #Battery

Almost 3 years ago, we published the isolation of the 17 VE species [Fe(CO)5]+. In our most recent article in @DaltonTrans , we formally exchanged "Fe" for "Ru", surprisingly yielding the dimeric dication [Ru2(CO)10]2+ instead of the expected [Ru(CO)5]+ .
