The thing I dislike most about scandals involving politicians is that it maims the entire profession leaving others to do the heavy lifting of rebuilding trust with citizens. Can we please start voting for people with a track record of humility, giving, and empathy.

Did we really expect systems rooted in white male patriarchy and dominance to actually dismantle grotesque displays of white male privilege and ignorance? We’ve come a ways forward, but not far enough in law enforcement or the politics that drive policy to affect real change.

I am receiving too many emails asking what #yyccc can do about massive rent increases. People are afraid. Calls to housing providers have increased three fold. It's time for the province to step in with rent cap increases to prevent the furthering of a housing crisis. #abpoli

#DYK Calgary had the fastest increasing rents, among condos and apartments, in the country in February? "Average rents in #yyc rose 28.1% annually and 3.8% over the past three months to $1,862."

If we’re going to be out offering water for people to stay hydrated then we need to be offering public spaces to relieve the pressure of being hydrated. Yes, public washrooms should always be a thing. #yyccc

2/ There is no excuse by way of ‘small-town mentality’ I say this in quotes because we often talk about the urban/rural divide. I want to stress, the views by that float do not represent all those living in rural areas so we must be cautious to cast a net of finger pointing.

At a time when people are crying for more transit safety, the province is making it harder for those seeking supervised consumption to get care. If we want transit to be safer, let’s direct our efforts and voices where needed. #yyccc #abpoli #yyctransit

Has it been considered that grocery stores that aren’t stocked could be due to a high number of store staff being off sick rather than anything related to supplies delivery? Do we actually know why the shelves aren’t stocked or is our premier hyping a hypothetical political ploy?

This announcement has made it clear that ‘provincial priorities’ are neither housing nor transit in cities - the biggest investments the feds are making. And apparently both of those are ideological too. This is not a policy that supports Alberta’s economic or social health.

Premier Danielle Smith will require Alberta municipalities, universities, housing authorities, etc etc, to obtain consent before striking federal funding deals. Necessary, she said, to stem Ottawa's ideological and constitutional intrusions: #yyc #yeg

5/ As a community leader who believes we need to do better by our diverse and marginalized communities, I struggle. I will be asking some hard question of my peers across the province in the coming days. I have heard your call to step up and speak out.

The polls are clear, political parties at the municipal level are not wanted by Albertans.

Albertans don't want political parties in their municipal elections. Elected officials should stay focused on their community's challenges and not on political agendas. #ABmunis #ABpoli #Ableg @CptGandam

1/17 It absolutely baffles me that my colleague would champion a voice that has limited experience and knowledge of our local situation over our own experienced and familiar legal counsel. This video and its comments are extremely misguided. How? Let me break down the problems.

I’ve put out more content than the six men running combined. And I’m not done. I’ve heard all about the ‘nice young men’ who come to doors. Nice doesn’t cut it. I’ve got tenacity, smarts, and I’m people focused. I’m qualified. #yycvote #yyccc #yycward11
