It has been a very sad last couple of days for the Center. We unfortunately have to say goodbye to our right-hand woman, Kim Westcott. Kim has been the most amazing Office Assistant, co-worker, friend, and part of the Chapman Center family for last almost 2 years... (1/3)

I'm late to the game because April+Academic but I do not support the LSA's newest resolution for reasons better said by scholars like @ACharityHudley and Jo Fruehwald. Frankly I find the timing of this proposal to be as suspect as its content
Tweeting this so late at night won't get the reach I'd like, but I've written Medium post to try to reach the persuadable that "Freedom of Expression" may sound like an ideal they agree with, but they should reject the LSA motion.

M coauthors and I are truly humbled by this award. This project represents a monumental coming together of community and scholars to learn more about how individuals negotiate their lingusitic identities over the lifespan. Many thanks to all the families who made this possible!

Hey #linguistics twitter folk who know more about syntax than me - a student wants to know why in English we use plural nouns when zero is the determiner, as in "there were zero chairs in the room." Can you help a sociophonetician out?

What you don't know re Kansas: “By 1930 the Mexican and Mexican-American population of Kansas was the seventh largest Mexican ancestral group in the United States, and this group comprised the second largest immigrant population in the state, after Germans.” Oppenheimer 1985: 431
