So delighted to have an article on Zola's 'La Curée' in Prof. Katharine Murphy & Dr Olivia Glaze's special issue 'Reading Bodies: Narrating Illness in European Literatures and Cultures (1870s to 1960s and Beyond)', Journal of Romance Studies, 2025 (25:3). https://t.co/YId9eW0ODz

It's one year since the open-access medical humanities special issue 'The Pathological Body' was published. Take a look if you're interested in literature, languages, bodies, and the global impact of C19th European medicine that shaped modern life. https://t.co/egGPtSNIWQ

Dare I say it, but I think it’s almost there. Hope to have made a cogent case for Modern Languages and medical humanities.
I’m currently putting together the Intro for the @PathBodyLit special issue and it’s blowing my mind how much excellent work is being done by early career folk in the modern languages.

I would highly recommend going with @openlibhums if you're choosing a journal to publish a special issue. No paywalls, no article processing fees, and an extremely rigorous and fast editing process from the very friendly OLH team.

I've benefitted hugely from @birkbeck_ETC: they were open-minded enough to take me (from the French dept) as editorial assistant at @BirkbeckC19, then GTA for 2 years on 3 modules. Now editing a special issue with @openlibhums. Their influence goes well beyond English Studies.

Truly alarming that Birkbeck are planning redundancies, including up to 6 staff in the dept of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics where I'm based as a research fellow. That's going to wreck a small department. https://t.co/TBA0zcMBZu
