Romero for me is our best player…
It baffles me how underrated he is by general football fans.
Every duel he enters it’s like a 70-30 he’s gonna win it.
The contrast of his aggressiveness out of possession but composure on it, is a blend of a perfect CB.
Before Bentancur can become our 6, I think he needs to work on 2 things:
1. Scanning, so that he’s more secure in possession. He’s caught in dangerous areas too often.
2. Being safer in his passing. I love his verticality in possession but at times he needs to build first.
Just started my football blog/website containing extensive player scout reports. Please give it a read and retweet if you like it.

It’s not just tactical. His confidence in every action has decreased.
His touches are looser, and he hesitates that split second before a dribble/pass more than before.
Want to see a lot more of that Sarr line breaking run like we did against Brighton.
Kid’s running power is a joke and can create a lot of opportunities with bursts through that inside channel there… 🇸🇳🏃
Reflections from Brighton (H)
A 🧵 by
@SeanLofting
looking at some of the key discussion points from our late home win.
- Where is Bentancur’s best role?
- Should we be resting and rotating our full-backs?
- Pape ‘Starboy’ Sarr
I am starting to get confused by why Ange continues to build up the same way in every scenario.
In my eyes we should be adapting our build-up shape according to opposition and/or personnel available.
Personally I’d replace him with a natural number 6.
I’m not keen on blocking Sarr or Devine’s development by crowding the 8 position.
But of the guys linked I’d probably go for Gallagher, think he racks up numbers in an Ange system.
•How to replace Pierre-Emile Højbjerg•
A criminally over-hated player who has naturally been prone to more criticism than most due to the demands his position and consistent availability.
(A thread 🧵)
All in all I was very impressed by Ange debut.
Brentford probably the worst opposition we could’ve had and we dealt with their threats reasonably well for a new back 4.
When the attacking patterns start clicking we will be class.
If we were actually able to shift some of our deadwood, this season would be a great time to blood through some of our talented youngsters.
Rotate the likes of:
Donley (Maddison)
Veliz (Richy)
Dorrington (Romero)
Kyerematen (Sarr)
White (Udogie)
Santiago (Son/Kulusevski)
Great way of reinvesting the Kane money.
Alternatively I’d let Son and Richarlison compete for the 9 spot and sign an elite 1 vs 1 specialist in LW.
Jeremy Doku or Mitoma would be great options.
Regretfully, we have made the decision to cancel Hackney Carnival on Sunday to observe this period of national mourning
We’ll be looking at whether it's feasible to hold Carnival later this year, or if we can showcase the artists’ work in another way
Spurs signing Jeremy Doku would truly change our potential this season. 🔝
- One of the best 1 vs 1 players in the world.
- Two way winger who can play on both sides.
- Starting to add good output to his game.
- Young with time to grow.
The perfect Ange winger. Bring him!
@thfcm14
He was better than Kane today imo. Was good off the ball kept stretching them giving midfielders way more space. But boy he needs to work on his box threat, kept shooting so early.
Think he complements Romero really nicely.
Having a left footer at LCB is vital in a possession based side. ✅
So young as well so I really can see him developing into one of the best.

So excited with the direction we’re moving.
Age profile slowly coming down.
So much negativity in the fan base but I really am optimistic for the coming years.
@YedIin
Completely agree. He’s always come across as a great, humble guy too.
Club failed him by buying him for a high line system then bringing in 3 low/mid block managers
Who is Lloyd Kelly? The 24 year old homegrown left-footed CB made his Premier League debut for Bournemouth in 2020, making 33 appearances and registering 2 assists. His attributes include:
• Capable in possession with decent passing technique
• Verstatility (can play LB & CB)
Recently recorded a fantastic interview with Ex- Spurs academy player Will Miller 🎙️
We touch on the likes of Marcus Edwards and Moussa Dembele…
Also talk about the lifestyle and pressures of being Spurs academy player 😰
This will drop at 9am tomorrow on our YouTube.
Great thread from the boys.
If Werner is a mere stop gap, replacing similar profiles we have or providing back up for them (Son, Johnson), then I’m beginning to be fine with it.
He’s not someone who’s gonna take us up a level though.
I think in the first season especially, Ange won’t want both his 8s super advanced.
In a transitional season he may want a little more defensive protection.
Therefore Sarr could be the perfect facilitator midfielder alongside Madders who can do a bit of everything.
One player we are really looking forward to seeing this season is Pape Matar Sarr. 🇸🇳
After last season where he was harshly treated in terms of minutes, since he always impressed on the pitch.
We think he can have a real breakout season under Postecoglou as an 8.

I also think Vlahovic would be a good option. His deficiencies are mainly in build up and back to goal play.
But as a striker in this system what we really need is just a box presence. Someone who can consistently make the CBs work and make run after run. Vlahovic excels here.
If Kane is to leave this summer and Spurs are looking to replace him directly, Randal Kolo Muani is probably the best option on the market.
A fantastically dynamic forward who could be great on the last line (something Ange wants), despite also being able to drop deep too.
Fantastic insight on what life was like as a Spurs player during the Pochettino era.
Also touches on the highs and lows of being an academy footballer in general.
Fantastic article
@FootballOllie
Covers all bases fairly and objectively.
Reminds us all how much work is to be done to reshape this squad.
Need this Kane saga over ASAP 🥱

Think this match suits us tactically.
Our press has been disjointed recently because of such quick turnovers in the front line, not giving us time to get in our set rest defence.
Brighton are so obsessed with drawing the press though that they’ll allow us to set up properly.
@EuroExpert_
I back Biss to wriggle out of that though and then commit one of Caicedo or Gallagher to free up Madders/Sarr.
Really hope they press him because he can handle it.
UOL Esporte are reporting that former Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho is believed to be close to bankruptcy, with claims that he now has less than 5 pounds left in his bank account 😟
@axelthfc
We literally made both Conte and Mourinho the highest paid managers in the league. Levy has proven he will pay whatever for the manager that suits. He obviously thinks this is the best option right now.
@AvyuktK
100% agree. We haven’t seen enough of this, suits both players so much better man.
I need to see more of Porro in crossing positions. Just like I need to see Kulu in between lines more.
@Belgian_Hotspur
Mate have u watched us last few games? Some of the worst football I’ve ever seen. We sit deep and counter against bottom of the league it’s unforgivable.
🗣 "A point is a good result."
🗣 "I've worked really hard for this moment."
🗣 "You can't explain it, it's special, the moments you dream about."
Man of the match Jaidon Anthony speaks to Sky Sports after Bournemouth's pulsating opening day draw with West Brom.
Line-ups | 🇵🇹 vs 🇰🇷
OK, this Portugal line-up a little unfair. They scored goals for fun in qualifying and possess arguably the tournament's deadliest front three.
We admittedly don't know a whole lot about South Korea, but we'll learn a lot about them after this huge test.
We will have a lot of possession so Hojbjerg at LCB has a lot of benefits. He can definitely play this role, Monday wasn't his first time for sure.
In previous seasons he would rotate to receive in CB positions anyway to support ball progression. Not natural, definitely capable.
@TheSpursScout
Solomon class first half. Our only real 1 vs 1 winger and he combined very well.
Udogie absolutely perfect for that LB role inside. His physicality massively helped in transitions which we struggled with first half.
@Belgian_Hotspur
Last season yes. But he’s continued to play Son in a role that doesn’t suit him. Dropped Kulu earlier in the season richarlison who doesn’t suit that role at all. Then got rid of our best direct cover for that role in Gil. Could go on, he’s made so manny errors.
Laporte is a signing that makes Tottenham title favourites, not contenders.
If I had to rank my favourite centre backs of the last 5 years, Aymeric Laporte would be 2nd, after Virgil Van Dijk.
There is no centre back who is able to pass like him. None.

It’s different types of players if u know football, Lucas and bergwijn are quick out to in runners, dele makes quick sharp clever bursts to create space for himself or others
