And that's why credit card numbers were embossed so they could be imprinted onto receipts. I've heard some places still have these devices, but they're rarely used now, usually only during power outages or when there's no internet connection. Has anyone actually encountered this?

I'm always fascinated by how technology worked before the digital age, the mechanisms were so unique. Do you remember the credit card imprinter, the manual device retailers used to record card transactions before electronic terminals existed? You might spot it in some old movies.

I'm crying, this is exactly like a scene from an episode of #KochiKame anime. It literally talked about this "technique" for filling up comic/manga pages. Since most Kochikame episodes lack official English subtitles, in this clip I added them myself so everyone can understand.
