Our first national edition of @OnTuesdayWeVote was a success! My middle schoolers were excited to participate with other students around the country, and I hope we change the minds of the few who don’t think voting is important today throughout the year! #ssteacher #votingmatters

Today’s poll was about a mandatory civics exam. I’m proud of my ms students for not always voting no just because it said “exam” and for some being brave and explaining the reasoning behind their vote to the class! @OnTuesdayWeVote @NationalCLW #civicsmatters #sschat

Todays voting question led to great talks on laws vs. executive orders, immigration, and the First Amendment. These Tuesday voting topics are really getting my middle school students to think beyond themselves and analyze Constitutional concepts! @OnTuesdayWeVote #sschat

I asked my 8th graders about Congress and term limits today after discussing length of terms, how long many have served, and the retirement of Kentucky Senator McConnell (making it relevant since that’s where we are). Good discussions and interesting results! @OnTuesdayWeVote

Had a great vocabulary lesson with my students today before our weekly @OnTuesdayWeVote! They may not understand the concept completely, but they grasp that we need to understand basic terms to be informed voters! #middleschoolers #voting

This week’s vote fostered a lot of vocabulary learning, connecting concepts, and figuring out what issues really do affect each person at an individual level. These weekly classroom discussions are priceless, especially with middle schoolers! @OnTuesdayWeVote #sschat
