Fire De Ruyter tomorrow. Bring the best CEO in the world. But loadshedding would continue. The problem isn't De Ruyter and his team. The problem is historical neglect by a few administrations. No CEO has a magic wand to reverse institutionalized neglect instantly. Let's go!
To all Zuma supporters:
Zuma wasn't loyal to AmaZulu. He didn't choose them when he had power. He chose the Guptas & his family.
Zuma wasn't loyal to SA. He didn't choose her when he had the advantage of power. He chose the Guptas & his family.
Is it painful to think?
FACT: Zuma isn't a political prisoner. He is no martyr. He is no hero. He broke the law. He broke the constitutional order. He's the enemy of the nascent SA state. He wants to turn us into wasteland/backwater. He wants Africans in particular to suffer permanent ignominy.
Apartheid has shown us that some whites are bad and others are good.
Our democratic government has shown us that some blacks are bad and others are good.
In fact these two catastrophes have shown us practically that people aren't the color of their skin. They are individuals.
I repeat! The biggest SA victory was the defeat of NDZ in Nasrec in December 2017. Had she won, Zuma and Guptas would still be ensconced in their positions. This victory is in the bank & can be celebrated already. We came too close to absolute implosion. Thank you thank you!
Zuma deployed all possible insult against SA during his time. The Gupta plane landed. SOEs were sold to the Guptas. The Watsons gained stranglehold. National Treasury was nearly taken over. Corruption was institutionalized. Today he lectures us about morals.
De Ruyter is cleaning up the mess caused by the post '94 administration. Particularly by Molefe, Koko, Singh. Not his own mess. He deserves our support. Not "HE IS RACIST!" - the SA favorite menu.
When Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla is prosecuted, Ramaphosa would be blamed for it and she would become an instant martyr. Her fans would be conveniently amnesiac of the fact that she forced the state, and not Ramaphosa, to prosecute her.
Ramaphosa's covid messages have been contradicted by three political events:
The EFF's
Magashule's
Nkandla's
Against these, the state has appeared powerless. But ordinary citizens are swiftly dealt with when they flout covid regulations. Is it animal farm we have now?
Pauli Van Wyk has made it impossible for certain politicians to stay unprosecuted. Or crime-fighting agencies risk losing the tiniest credibility left. She has delivered solid evidence on a silver platter. Keep going Pauli, insults are but an endorsement of your great work.
FACT:
We inherited a working Eskom in 1994.
Like most things we inherited, it has been brought to its knees by corruption.
If you can't maintain what you have, is there hope to create anything new?
Caster Semenya must be one of the most victimised people in the world. But she is able to weather all of it with the use of a rock solid character. An everyday human being would have cracked under unrelenting brutal assaults. What an inspiration she is!👏👏👏💪💪
So we'll be renting the land from the state, the same state that can't manage a feeding scheme? I won't mention state entities which have literally died under its care. We can't pretend as though we suddenly have a capable state. We actually have a profoundly incompetent state!
Solly Msimanga to build 40 houses from the sale of the mayoral mansion. He could have enjoyed the gravy train, but decided to sell this mansion to raise money for needy citizens. We need to disabuse ourselves of political blinkers and applaud rational decisions by politicians.
Idi Amin fought for Africans. His bank account swelled. Africans became poorer. Mugabe fought for Africans. His bank account swelled. Africans became poorer. Mobutu fought for Africans. His bank account swelled. Africans became poorer. Zuma fought for Africans, rest is history.
The Kream representative stood up to Malema and the discomfort was palpable. Malema isn't accustomed to being told NO! In what could easily be a civil interaction, he started lacing the conversation with threats. But the Kream guy wasn't cowed. I will go to Kream next time.
De Ruyter executed on two key national projects this year:
- He exposed the gratuitous use of the race card.
- He also confronted the elephant in the South African room - the entitled people of Soweto.
These two things needed someone with a well-developed spinal cord.
De Ruyter might be white, but he is laboring for South Africans and one can plausibly argue that he is laboring for primarily blacks who have been disenfranchised twice already, by the National Party and ANC. If Eskom works, many of our economic issues are resolved. Vuka muntu!
If blacks raged against corruption as much as they did against racism or even fake racism, more unemployed blacks would be employed today, as corruption would have been driven out of fashion fast. But that's not a priority for the Blackness Brigade/Black Twitter.
#clifton
Apartheid was evil, no debate about that. But similarly there's no debate about the fact that we inherited, from it, a number of world-class fundamentals such as infrastructure, well-functioning Eskom amongst other state entities. We have failed to maintain let alone create new.
Zille's tweets receive more anger than Esidimeni, Michael Komape & Marikana masaccre. There's distortion is how we allocate anger to issues in SA. If we could be half as angry with corruption, as we are with her tweets, politicians would be forced to walk away from malfeasance.
Let this be said again: Our future, as blacks, isn't held hostage by whites anymore. It has been & continues to be stolen by our black leaders who have perfected the art of stealing from their own people. And the main sponsor for this barbarity is the Blackness Brigade. Amenz!
Many of us agree with you President Ramaphosa. These were planned. It defies logic to disagree. That's not the point though. The nub of the issue is, why would your minister of defense or any minister for that matter contradict you publicly & therefore make you look inadequate?
Pravin's crime hasn't yet been proven and yet he is treated as a criminal. His opponents have proven crimes. VBS was destroyed and Limpopo pensioners are out of pocket. Why should SA allow itself to be lectured on morals/ethics by thieves? They should account for VBS first.
(Black) residents of Protea Glen are fighting off (black) land grabbers. Residents are worried that the presence of land grabbers presents the following risks: depreciation of their properties and a surge in crime. If these property owners were white, we would be crying racism?
Ian Smith left a productive Zimbabwe, Mugabe destroyed it, converting Zimbabweans into instant beggars. Apartheid left a productive SA, but the ruling black elite converted this into unbearable dirt.
Apparently ALL black people must support Mkhwebane and other like-minded blacks. This is non-negotiable or you are being paid by whites to push their agenda. To them, we are sheep, we think alike and also sound the same. This must be the gravest insults on blacks generally.
Fact: De Ruyter and his leadership team didn't cause loadshedding.
Some who caused it are sitting unperturbed, including two former presidents.
Everyone seems to have forgotten who caused the problem.
This week's score:
LOSSES
- Zuma lost
- Magashule lost
- Niehaus lost
- Mpofu lost
- Mgilija lost
- Edward lost
- Zuma supporters lost
WINS
- Constitution won
- Police won
- SA won
What a watershed week it has been.
We keep using Mbeki as a benchmark:
But:
Mbeki wasn't facing jail time;
Mbeki hadnt handed the state to private interests;
Mbeki had sufficient self-respect to leave when unwanted;
Mbeki had so much to lose - his reputation;
Mbeki had options beyond politics.
And more and more
Many of us don't see Pravin in racial terms. We see a bona fide South African who doesn't only love this country, but also works hard to make it shine. Many blackness chanters here have been responsible for sinking this country. Case in point is VBS, looted by very loud blacks.
After what has happened in Zuma's name, it would be a brutal betrayal of the people of SA, many who've lost their basic services, employment & their hard-earned businesses if Zuma is released before he completes his 15-month sentence. In fact such a thought must never even occur
FACT: It is not xenophobic to demand proper documentation of all foreign nationals coming to your country. No right-thinking citizens would make their country a free-for-all. We either keep our borders or officially collapse them in the name of poverty-breeding rhetoric.
Why should anyone be forced to kneel folks? By Minister Mthethwa, amongst many of his colleagues. What happened to civil liberties? This is no dictatorship. It's a constitutional democracy where people choose. It's no crime not to kneel? Bullies should be defied!
Indians came to SA as indentured laborers. But within two generations, they managed to dictate terms to their own future. How? They used education as THE key to the desired future. They didn't use victimhood to unlock the future.
It was a huge political miscalculation by KZN ANC. They thought Zuma was a force & they sought to appease him. He is the yesterday's man & being supported by looters & hooligans is the ablest articulation of the fact. SA hasn't burned. A few flashpoints burned. Let's be clear.
I would kill, not for Zuma, but to be a fly on the wall of the Guptas. They must be laughing the hell out of South Africans in the comfort of their homes. Three brother, not a whole squad, managed to turn SA into a global laughing stock that it is today. One family! What a joke!
Thuli Madonsela started it all. With her brave fight for clean governance and the rule of law. If we had a weak PP, we probably wouldn't be here today. We now have the best shot at restoring the rule of law and "defashionize" thieving as a fine art.
The mistake we made with Nene shouldn't be repeated with Pravin. The fact that he may have met the Guptas means nothing except if he did something unethical in that or post the meeting. Pravin helped us reclaim our country from Guptas. Let's only bow to logic and not bullying!
Zuma is spoilt.
He doesn't want Billy Downer.
He doesn't want DCJ Zondo.
He wants his way. He doesn't want accountability.
He wants pre-designed court outcomes.
We have a grown up man, a former president at that, behaving like a spoilt teenager.
The following are whites who are implicated in the selling of SA to the Guptas and other corruption:
Mosebenzi Zwane, Jimmy Manyi, Matshela Koko, Brian Molefe, Jacob Zuma, Siyabonga Gama, etc.
It makes sense to blame whites for the mess we are in. They owe us our lost future.
Let me repeat this:
No one is holding Africans back today. But themselves. They can't credibly blame slavery, apartheid & colonialism. Since 1960 & 1994, they have been free to restore dignity to deprived Africans. They have deepened it through greed. That's the fact!
Please enlighten me. Am slow. Why don't Soweto people pay or refuse to pay for electricity? Did apartheid affect them more than other blacks? Are they more black than other blacks? Is their poverty graver than other blacks'? Why are Sowetans more important than other people?
I would personally prefer the intellectual bravery of Helen Zille any day, than a president who says popular but divisive things (or is woefully indecisive) to please his constituency. Intellectual honesty is preferred, we can argue the (de)merits of an argument later.
Can Tito Mboweni or any black person break away from popular black opinion without attracting insults or characterized as cowtowing to whites? Will we one day be intellectually mature enough to appreciate that blacks too aren't monolithic? Will blacks ever respect fellow blacks?
Dear Sowetans! It looks like the ANC is fast losing power, hence they aren't in charge of jhb today. Now, start easing yourself out of entitlement and learn to pay for the services like everyone else. You aren't blacker than every black person. Nor are you poorer or special.
Two people who are hated for switching off the looting taps:
Ramaphosa (when he won at Nasrec, the best president-ever had a physical reaction, seeing taps close literally)
De Ruyter (many had millions flowing into their accounts from the loot. He stopped that)
RET is angry
While we see enmity between us and whites, which I argue is a fabrication, not a reality, corrupt politicians are having a field day looting SA industrially. SA has become backwater, not because of racism but unbridled corruption. We choose our fights and have chosen wrong one.
Funny how humans are wired. So we have to bother about her family while she didn't care about millions of families when she destroyed the NPA?
Jiba's plea to Ramaphosa: 'Removing me will harm my family' via
@IOL
You have been shouting that Solidarity is racist. While you did that, they put their head down and labored hard. Their project, university construction, is nearing completion now. What have you done except shouting "RACIST!" amongst other useless stuff?
When Malema says his party won't comply with "Ramaphosa's lockdown rules", he makes one fatal mistake, these aren't Ramaphosa's rules. They are our rules as people who need to survive the pandemic. Blinded by his own rage, he can see the wood from the trees. Clearly can't lead.
We often condemn those who sold our beautiful country to the Guptas, which we should. But we, in the fit of rage, forget to applaud those patriotic citizens who confronted brazen senior government & corporate thieves to protect their country. These are real South Africans 👏👏
Next time President Ramaphosa lectures us about the extent of the state capture, like he was doing last night, someone must ask him: What have you done Mr President to rid us of it, how much have you recovered of the stolen money thus far? We allow leaders to speak as bystanders
If corruption was THE problem, what Popo Molefe said yesterday would be trending. What's likely to trend is Zille or someone who must fall for some ridiculous reason. The problem is rather our collective tolerance of corruption. And politicians are keenly aware of this fact.
What's this black revolution around Mkhwebane when she allegedly sneezed at the impoverished black farmers in Free State during the compilation of her report? She delivered a report that favored powerful blacks instead. Or impoverished blacks aren't black enough to be fought for
The parole board, which is essentially an institution, didn't grant Zuma medical parole. Arthur Fraser, an individual, used his discretion to grant medical parole to Zuma. This is what it essentially means - an individual overruled an institution. Why?
From what Mashaba said to Stephen, he engineered the EFF-backed take-over by DA of Ekurhuleni and JHB yesterday. That's maturity in my book. He really wants the ANC out of power and he is willing to sacrifice his own ambitions to do so. Very few citizens wouldn't be impressed.
FACT: The fact that most South Africans can't afford medical aid isn't due to the private medical schemes per se. It's due to our government's inability to attract investment so most people can be employed and afford medical aid. Let's refrain from parochial thinking good folks.
When Ramaphosa started blaming whites, I knew his approach to leadership is threadbare and not dissimilar to Jacob Zuma's. In all he has said thus far about whites, he hasn't taken accountability for the mess his party caused. He isn't setting himself apart.
Modus operandi for African leaders = Bash whites and steal from blacks. Mugabe mastered the genius of words. An erudite speech-maker, with a penchant for bashing Britain. Africans applauded. He was our hero. The son of the soil. But he stole from Zimbabweans, pauparised them.
Sisulu has shown amazing timeliness in her responses or reactions. She's thus far promptly responded to both Lamola & Zondo. She hasn't shown the same timeliness in the portfolios she has been leading in her long public career. Many citizens can't point out 1 thing she has done
Nzimande once said stories about Zuma’s R200m home in Nkandla were “white people’s lies”. He was still employed by Zuma. But today he's publicly criticising him and he takes no accountability for this hypocritical change of stance. We're no idiots.
When Ramaphosa took over, his priorities were skewed. He showed us the middle finger. He told us that the unity of the anc was supreme. Again, the anc was bigger than SA, under his leadership. He misread the national mood. He took South Africans for granted. He disrespected us.
Pravin is decisively shaking the State Capture. He isn't theorizing about it, he is instead using his portfolio to tangibly implement reforms. With him at the helm, the repurposing of state entities will but practically come to an end. Thanks Pravin!!!!!
A random question:
What have the "black" unions, who have been collecting membership fees from black workers, done for black workers to date?
Use this context to answer please:
Solidarity is building a university. How are they able and our black ones can't? No emotions pls!
Piet Rampedi and team have done a great job exposing the Diko corruption here. We need media diversity in this country, Independent Media invariably elicites polarized views, but we need to give credit where it's due. Keep hitting hard guys. Let's learn more about our taxes. 🙌
Fact: Zuma has been convicted by courts. Not by Ramaphosa or the anc. The issue is therefore between him and courts. In fact he has forced the courts to convict him. He isn't a victim!
The anc wanted apartheid to collapse so they could lead us to dignity. Apartheid collapsed 27 years ago and and each time they are confronted with their own evident failure they tell us 27 years is too early.
President Ramaphosa has allowed himself to be undermined. He doesn't command the respect inherent in his position. Zuma's daughter is amongst many of those who openly undermine his leadership. He is too "nice". That's why even thugs are comfortable under his leadership.
Zondo has his legacy sealed already. Whether he gets the CJ position or not. He would go down in the annals of history as a judge who exposed & legally confirmed the existence of the state capture. That's incomparable to his detractors' contribution - insults & apathy.
Mugabe was fighting for blacks
Taylor was fighting for blacks
Mobutu was fighting for blacks
Kabila was fighting for blacks
Nguema is fighting for blacks
Zuma is/was fighting for blacks
But only their friends & families are rich while populations have been pauparized.
Defending blacks who are corrupt, because you are also black, isn't some noble struggle. There's no mutuality of interest. None! In fact, it's self-mutilation 101.
When I saw a politician celebrating the number of Twitter followers he had gained, not the number of South Africans he has lifted through his ministry, I knew that our problem were in multiples.
We wanted apartheid to collapse so we could lead. We now blame apartheid for our leadership failures. Those who created apartheid must be laughing all the way to wherever for having authored such a living irony and permanent entrapment for us. What an effective bore.
Under Zuma and Magashule, the Vrede Dairy Farm was yanked from the hands of poor black farmers.
Under Ramaphosa, the Vrede Dairy Farm was returned to the hands of the poor black farmers.
Zuma is seen as the model black.
Ramaphosa is seen as the enemy of blacks.
During the looting, communities destroyed their own infrastructure. Their own future. Their own services. Their own education. No external force descended on these communities. We can't blame a 3rd force here. Communities ate themselves up.
There was a solid foundation when the ANC took over. The NP had left a sound infrastructure spanning the entire stages and existence of a normal human being. They only had to expand it to cover all citizens. They destroyed it instead. What leadership does that.
To decide to be corrupt is idiocy. But to decide to be corrupt on someone else's behalf is beyond idiocy. I say it again, the Guptas were lucky. They found a lucrative mine of idiots in powerful positions in SA and all they did was to make these idiots do their bidding.
