As a resident I didn’t know if I would be interested in hospital medicine because one of the things I loved most about medicine was the relationships. I was afraid I would lose that as a hospitalist because I wouldn’t have continuity or long term patients. 1/.

Grateful to the @WSJ and @tepingchen for drawing attention to this issue. It is possible to be a dedicated physician and still want work-life balance. They are not mutually exclusive. Glad to work at a place that recognizes that (@HopkinsMedicine).
Doctors for generations accepted being at the mercy of their pagers. Now, younger physicians are questioning medicine’s workaholic culture.

It’s the end of the year for academic medicine and start of a new one. It was a privilege to work with some amazing future ophthalmologists and stellar crew of @OslerResidency residents this week on Brancati service along with @allenkachalia . Can’t wait to meet the new interns!.

Walking home after a night shift and unexpectedly ran into a former patient, now healthy and doing well. What a joy. One of the things I miss about being a #hospitalist is I don’t get to see people doing well once they leave the hospital. #HowIHospitalist.
