The downed power lines are near the intersection of US1 and Bat Tower Road in Lower Sugarloaf. Crews are working with the MC Sheriffs office on maintenance of traffic in order to access and complete repairs, which are ongoing.

The cause of the outage was attributed to a broken Guy Wire. A Guy Wire is a tensioned cable designed to add stability to freestanding structures like utility poles.

A midafternoon Distribution Line outage affected 1,100 KEYS customers from Big Coppitt to Sugarloaf Keys at 2:00P. Power was restored to all impacted customers by 2:15P.
