I am officially calling for an end to Seven Nation Army and Zombie Nation at Philadelphia sporting events:

the one thing that's glaringly obvious is that every Philly sporting atmosphere goes immediately to shit at the first sign of trouble. you could feel the tension and anxiety in the building through the TV. it was palpable

this feels like a perverse combination of the Diamondbacks NLCS and the Sixers/Hawks series

tense crowd. might have to empty CBP and fill it back up with mongrels from the Northeast

clarification: this is post volume, not clicks (impressions were fine, usually a few thousand readers)
@CrossingBroad Not only did Union coverage finish SIGNIFICANTLY behind the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, and Flyers, but it also finished behind Penn State, Temple, and uncategorized trending/pop culture stories that have nothing to do with sports.

THE CAPTAIN 🫡 The #Oilers have signed forward Connor McDavid to a two-year contract extension with an AAV of $12.5 million!

@CrossingBroad @DMRussini Finally, for a provincial city that likes blue collar athletes, that's basically the Union roster. It's a combination of homegrown kids and hard-working grinders, so the apathy and/or hate is funny because it's totally off-brand. anyway, have a great day!

@CrossingBroad @DMRussini In that vein, I think NASCAR is stupid as fuck, just guys driving in circles and wasting gas, but I don't respond to NASCAR tweets with "nobody cares," I just scroll to the next post, because people do like NASCAR and it's not a big deal.

@CrossingBroad @DMRussini Regardless, it always seems to be a one-way street. Union fans get shit on, but they don't do any shitting of their own because the vast majority like the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers.

@CrossingBroad People get annoyed when Union fans pop up in tweets like the one @DMRussini sent out, but I don't know if asking for recognition and/or pointing out a big win is the same as trying to force something on someone.

@CrossingBroad Of course, it you're a soccer hater, then the only appropriate amount of media coverage is 0. But the underlying numbers prove that Union media coverage is where you would probably expect it, even among the few outlets that write anything at all about the team. 🤷

Here's some data: At @CrossingBroad, we wrote five Union stories over the past six weeks. The total post count (minus commercial gambling stories), was 298. So five Union stories out of 298 total is 1.67%

"Stop trying to make it happen" is my favorite reply to Union stories. Doesn't make any sense either. You give the occasional story to a first-place, trophy-winning local team and non-fans would have you think it amounts to proselytizing:
