The Migration Tutor GPT helps students think a little more theoretically. It highlights these drivers of displacement, but puts them into the broader development context and highlights the role of inequality, social networks, and migration abilities.

I asked the generic ChatGPT and this Migration Tutor GPT, "What explains migration from Central America to the US in recent years?" . ChatGPT's answer emphasizes causes of displacement: violence, poverty, climate change and corruption.

I am creating a migration theory tutor GPT for my course on migration and development this spring. I find the theory weeks can get heavy, and I wanted to create something interactive for students. I uploaded all of my favorite migration theory papers as the knowledge base.
