New Shimadzu electron microprobe on Day 1 being open for business in the E-beam Lab at the Jackson School of Geosciences at UT-Austin.

Finished off the show with general specimens for the department, slabs of petrified trunks, ammonites, and labradorite. 2 new Target suitcases later weighed in at 101.5 lbs at check in… just light enough to fly home. I recommend geos try the show.

Day 2 purchases are garnets, corundum, andalusite, and pyrite all with rock matrix. And a nice little twinned feldspar

Day 2 has been highlighted by pearls and jade. new Guatemalan jade is rivaling Burmese in color and quality, but at half the price.

By far the main buzz this year at the show is crystallized gold from new mining at Eagles Nest
