In 1988 Keith created the logo for an organization called Refuse & Resist! R&R! opposed censorship, war and police brutality. The organization dissolved in 2006 but this image still resonates very strongly today & is one of the most widely shared Haring images on the internet.
With profound sadness, we acknowledge the passing of Allen Haring, loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and long-time treasurer and chairman of the Keith Haring Foundation.
Prophets of Rage - 1988
————-
Keith was a huge
@publicenemy
fan. This painting was inspired by a song of the same name by the political hip hop group. It speaks to the unaddressed anger in the Black community that existed then that has still not yet been remedied.

Today would have been the 67th birthday of the legendary DJ and dear friend of Keith’s, Larry Levan.

Today Keith would have been 62 years young. What he was able to accomplish on his brief time on Earth was nothing short of astonishing. The world is still in awe. We do our best to describe the magic he exuded & created but alas, there are no words. Happy birthday Keith 🎂
On what would be Keith’s 63rd birthday, please leave a brief comment about how he inspired you, affected you or simply send a universal happy birthday shout out. Go!

Black lives mattered to Keith and they matter to the Keith Haring Foundation.
Keith boldly addressed racial injustice in his work. This 1985 piece was meant to call out the apartheid that was still in place then in South Africa but sadly it strikes a painful nerve in today’s America.

Today the Supreme Court ruled that federal civil rights law protects gay, lesbian & transgender workers. It is a landmark ruling that will extend protections to millions of workers nationwide. This ruling was a defeat for the Trump administration...hopefully not the last.
A portion of the famous Grace House mural in situ as it existed at 218 W 108th St in New York City. The mural has since been removed from the building and the panels that make up the mural are now being exhibited at the MCA Denver (

This mural was inspired by the Public Enemy song Don’t Believe The Hype. Keith often painted with PE playing in the background. Shouts to
@MrChuckD
for the timeless work.

34 years ago today the world lost Andy Warhol, pictured here with Keith Haring in a photo taken by Pierre Keller.
The second photo is of a 1985 painting by Keith called Andy Mouse, a playful fusion of his dear friend and mentor Andy and Mickey Mouse.
