The
#Patriots
nearly killed me, but that's a wrap on the "writing an ungodly amount news, opinion and analysis" portion of the 2024 NFL Draft!
If you care about my mental health, head on over to and read the stuff I wrote. It's good, I promise.
Mac Jones: 22
Me: 22
Today he was named the starting quarterback of the New England Patriots. I moved into an apartment I can barely afford.
Big day for us both.
Matthew Judon had two thoughts after the Patriots drafted Christian Gonzalez.
1. He’s got enough money to splurge on wings.
2. His number’s going to be “trash.”
“42!” 🤣
Pretty cool story here from Julian Edelman.
During his suspension back in 2017, the Celtics let him use their facilities to keep his routine and workout. They even gave him a locker. (via
@SHOsports
)
The Jets averaged 2.9 INCHES of offense per play in the second half of their loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
That’s roughly the width of your cell phone.
Julian Edelman is an all-time Patriot.
3x Super Bowl Champion
1x SB MVP
Franchise Playoff Receiving Leader
2010’s All-Decade Team
Not bad for an undersized QB out of Kent State.
The
#Patriots
have a shot at grabbing at least one of Adonai Mitchell, Ladd McConkey or Brandon Aiyuk with the No. 34 pick Friday.
It could not have broken better their way.
Kyle Van Noy: “I’m playing with house money right now… I’m playing with my friends.”
Mentions that he’s set for life, it’s all about winning right now.
#Patriots
Happy for Kristian Wilkerson. Guy has worked his ass off for two years on the practice squad and passed up 53-man opportunities to stay with the
#Patriots
. Today is well deserved.
My first and only thought on the
#Patriots
schedule leak is how hilarious week two is going to be.
Zach Wilson’s first start at home will come against Bill Belichick and his revamped Pats defense. Tremendous.
The
#Patriots
have met a ton of WR’s at the Combine.
Chris Olave, Jameson Williams, Wandale Robinson, John Metchie, Kyle Phillips, and Treylon Burks are all confirmed to have had meetings with New England.
I would imagine they’re just going to meet with all of them.
It seems like members of the Patriots’ roster approve of the Jerod Mayo hire.
(via JuJu Smith-Schuster, Christian Gonzalez, Marcus Jones and DeVante Parker on Instagram)
The
#Patriots
don’t have an offensive coordinator, haven’t named a defensive coordinator in four seasons, and deployed one of their worst special teams units in over a decade last season.
Lots of work to do by Bill Belichick.
The
#Patriots
have re-signed four captains this offseason. Cam Newton, David Andrews, James White, and Lawrence Guy all return for another go around.
The off field stuff is so much more important than you may think.
It feels like Kyle Dugger’s importance to the Patriots’ defense actually hurts him when it comes to national recognition.
He does *literally* everything in that unit, which takes away from some of the counting stats.
Prince William and Princess Kate will be seated courtside for tonight's Celtics-Heat game.
They'll be joined by Celtics owners Wyc Grousbeck and Steve Pagliuca, Celtics legend Tom “Satch” Sanders, Boston mayor Michelle Wu and Massachusetts Governor-Elect Maura Healey.
Stephon Gilmore was present at last nights “Patriots Premier” event.
Coaches and players have raved about the work he’s done with young players in the meeting room throughout the offseason.
This is the weirdest holdout of all time.
The
#Patriots
might throw a bag at KVN.
A Belichick favorite who could serve as a great mentor to Josh Uche. Eliminates the need to draft an LB this season when they have so many other needs.
KVN, Hightower, Uche sounds good to me.
Spend some of that $60M+ in cap space.
Mac Jones beat Kirk Cousins in the “Thread the Needle” competition 12-11. He technically scored 15 points but lost three with an interception.
#ProBowlSkills
As the old saying goes: "If it ain't broke don't trade away Shaq Mason, swap your two tackles and completely change the system under a coach who made his name on the defensive side of the ball."
Julian Edelman (via.
@PardonMyTake
)
“I didn’t grow up thinking about the Hall of Fame. I grew up thinking of holding up the Lombardi Trophy.”
Also had a great bit about PMT being HOF podcasters but not having the stats, longevity, etc...
The more I watch this video, the more I think Mac Jones is a robot, the more I’m starting to believe he’s going to make them a contender for years to come. (Via

This is interesting.
Marte Mapu is charting Steve Belichick’s calls on the sideline. You usually see backup QB’s do this for the offensive coordinator.
The rookie loves to learn and this is a great way to do it while nursing that pec injury.
Kyle Van Noy on the
#Patriots
defense: “It’s a brotherhood that was started a long time ago with guys like
@TedyBruschi
, we’re just trying to keep it going along.
I cannot overstate how excited I am to watch Mike Onwenu and Trent Brown maul people beside one another next season.
The football gods just gave
#Patriots
fans a gift.
It’s pretty funny watching Pro-Days that Belichick attends.
He almost always spends most of his time with the schools HC and looks like he’s having the time of his life. The Godfather.
Looks like someone (
@tanielu_ekuale
?) gifted the
#Patriots
LB’s some sweet custom art pieces. Each piece represents the players alma mater and college number.
The
#Patriots
now roster two of the last three Cliff Harris Award winners, the award given to the the best small-college defensive player in the nation.
Sam Roberts (2021) joins Kyle Dugger (2019) as winners to wind up in New England.
For those wondering why
#Patriots
RB Brandon Bolden changed his jersey number, it’s to honor his Super Bowl Champion grandfather Frank Pitts.
Really cool gesture by Bolden, something they’ll be able to share forever.
Believe it or not, only one of these plays drew a penalty.
Play
#1
drew an illegal hands to the face penalty that negated a 45-yard gain and stalled out the
#Buccaneers
offense.
Play
#2
was not called and led to third down conversion on Tampa’s first scoring drive.
Scenes from the War Room:
As he alluded to in his presser last night, this draft is a true team effort for BB.
He gathers with Dave Ziegler, Eliot Wolf, and Matt Groh prior to making the pick at
#15
. He even checks in with Groh a second time.
(via. )
I gave McDaniels A LOT of garbage for his play-calling. I stand by most of it.
He is undoubtedly a phenomenal football coach and great teacher. He deserves a third chance at being a head coach and I’m sure he’ll have success in this next chapter.
Daniel Jeremiah was just asked about the Patriots (No. 3) and Giants (No 6) possibly swapping first-round picks so New York could grab a QB.
He talked to people around the league and believes it would cost NYG three second-round picks.
“Those fans are probably some of the worst fans in the NFL, and I’m gonna stand on that. … They said some nasty things, some things I wouldn’t say in church.” - Tyreek Hill on Patriots fans
Kyle Fuller is a very real option for the
#Patriots
today. The
#Broncos
have shown they’re willing to eat salary for a bump on compensation, and compensation shouldn’t be all that high considering he’s riding the bench in Denver.
Tyreek Hill going to the Jets feels like a win for the
#Patriots
. The Dolphins on the other hand? Worst case scenario outside of Buffalo.
Send him to New York where his value will be diminished in a bad offense and they’ll waste a ton of cap space on him.
We talk a lot about how the Raiders, Texans and Dolphins poach talent from the
#Patriots
roster, but I wondered which teams New England has swiped talent off of.
Can you guess the two teams New England has accrued the most talent from?
Isaiah Simmons (still only 25) is sitting in free agency and appears to have a very limited market.
I think he’d be a perfect fit for the
#Patriots
as a depth LB/S. Could be a fun chess piece for DeMarcus Covington.
I’m afraid to inform you all that the
#Patriots
did indeed have a good offseason. Malcolm Butler, DaVante Parker and Jabril Peppers are all making the Pro Bowl.
(Judon as well.)
Sports talk television may be worse than radio.
Bart Scott just wrote off Mac Jones saying he wouldn’t be worth a second contract (he’s yet to play a game) and Mel Kiper is now comparing him to Tom Brady.
