Called CQ for a special event station for about an hour, spent most of the day hanging out with a great radio club, and watched a 115 year old lighthouse light. Totally worth waking up with frost on my sleeping bag!

Same view about 45 minutes later. But with stronger winds & snow.
On the north shore of Lake Superior by the mouth of the Gooseberry River with Split Rock Lighthouse a few miles up the shore. Lighthouse was deactivated in 1969 but it’s lit every NOV 10th in honor of the Fitzgerald & the 29 souls that went down with her her 50 years ago.

It’s official. The 3rd Annual Wisconsin Ham Radio Campout was a success! Fun effect from this event. By midday Saturday while hunting other #POTA activators, when I gave my park number their reply was usually something along the lines of “I see you’re at the WI campout.”

I was excited when #WinterFieldDay announced last year it was under new management. I was hopeful they would take things in a better direction. But unfortunately that’s not happening & they let a complete asshole have access to their socials…. Just another contest.
