…there are some shifts. A successful lawsuit filed by Trump & allies extended the deadline in Bucks County, PA, for in-person mail-in ballot applications. I’ve been told that in PA, where the race is tightest, Trump’s path to victory relies on getting out lower propensity voters

Broadly speaking, the litigation debate boils down to concerns around voter fraud vs those around voter suppression. (More conservative voices say tighter controls are needed to prevent fraud. More lib voices say some of these controls could disenfranchise eligible voters). Yet…

A newish development by Reps (who filed 39% of suits v 9% by Dems) targeted overseas voters, with dismissed suits in MI, NC & PA questioning the validity of some of these votes. DNC estimates that 1.6 mil voters abroad are eligible to vote in swing states, though turnout is low

More than a third of the cases I looked at were to do with the potential for ineligible votes to be cast, with several explicitly mentioning “non-citizens” and including challenges to different states ID requirements, as well as their maintenance of or access to voter rolls.

Non-citizens/ineligible voters casting ballots has been a hot topic (despite studies saying it’s v rare). After launching almost 10000 voter challenges, a man in Fulton County filed yet another. I went through 113 election-related lawsuits (Jul 1 - Oct 30). Here's what I found...

Russian Telegram channels are circulating a fake BBC screenshot claiming UK’s chief rabbi has called for mosques to be closed. The first time @Shayan86 and I have seen channels routinely churning out imposter fakes like this post about the disorder in the UK.

In one video, a person in the crowd can be heard shouting a racist slur and the word "foreigners" is used. In another video someone shouts "get them". @Shayan86 @KayleenDevlin

This viral image purporting to be leaked Twitter/ X code stemming from the url "protected-users.twitter.okta[dot]com" is fake. An Okta spokesperson told me, "We can confirm that this is definitely an invalid url and we confirm the screenshot is fake."

This video, viewed over 400,000 times, claims to show footage of an alleged retaliatory attack by Israel in Isfahan, Iran, today. But the same video was posted yesterday, claiming to show missiles fired from Lebanon landing in northern Israel.

IAEA can confirm that there is no damage to #Iran’s nuclear sites. DG @rafaelmgrossi continues to call for extreme restraint from everybody and reiterates that nuclear facilities should never be a target in military conflicts. IAEA is monitoring the situation very closely.

In any war situation, counting those who have died is a challenge. Myself and a few others worked on this piece which attempts to answer some questions people may have about how, in such a dangerous and chaotic situation, the dead are counted in Gaza

NEW: last week a group of US hardline conservatives brought the National Conservatism conference to London. It fell completely flat. Why? Because Britain and America are completely different societies. Key chart: UK Cons are *way* more liberal than US Reps on ~every measure.

BBC Verify's first piece for @BBCNews at Ten went out last night, examining the extent of the devastation and destruction in the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut. A powerful and harrowing story. Honoured to work with @OlgaMalchevska and @SoyaInk to produce my first piece for the Ten.
