I like when babies and children are loud in public. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I enjoy a good commotion. The more unhinged the better. Once at Olive Garden I saw a toddler throw his soup vertically.

babies in public spaces are fine! babies are just little dudes who don't know what's going on so they sometimes they cause a ruckus. a large percentage of grown adults do know what's going on and cause a ruckus anyway, and that's much worse, because they are large

Sometimes things are too calm and we need 5 babies doing the harmonized scream to jolt us all back into the realization that we live in a community idk Waking up to the sound of my next door neighbors kid throwing his truck against the wall with punishing regularity? This is ok.

I bet you're still thinking about the soup. Yes it did rain down on the family, yes there was more screaming, yes some of the screaming (the toddler's) was in delight.

For anyone who is curious or potentially concerned about service workers: The parents cleaned the soup up. It mostly landed on them. They were super embarrassed, and the staff insisted that it was okay, but they cleaned it up by themselves, toddler cackling in the background.

This thread isn’t a PSA or telling people they should enjoy something that I don’t mind. This isn’t even a hard stance that you should argue with I just like having fun and am unphased when a day that could otherwise be regular gets a little chaotic. Most times, I offer help 🤷🏾‍♀️

@KaylaAncrum I love it too! It reminds me that I am lucky to never get pregnant and that my skin will be clear and wrinkle free while my friends die slowly for 18-25 years ❤️

@Persephiroth I cannot stress how enjoyable it is to be able to just be a spectator in these situations and getting to go home without them afterwards. It also makes it easy to jump in and help if a mom needs it, bc at least I get to leave after.

@KaylaAncrum Kids being loud because they're having fun is great. But i don't think that's what anyone is bothered by. When the kid id being loud to get their parents attention, and the parents are ignoring them, then it's the parents that are bothering me.

@Atmosph3rik Yeah, that’s less of a kid problem and more of a parent problem. Falls into the Adult Misbehavior category for me. But even so, their screaming doesn’t get me upset, it just makes me sad for them

@KaylaAncrum @Sanne_vds I agree EXCEPT on airplanes, thats just freaking annoying. The baby is upset, the plane is agitated and the parents are embarrassed/annoyed. No one is having fun. For a short flight ok, but when it's 9-13 hrs with crying babies I just want to scream "WHY u do this" to the parent

@Aca_Acesome @Sanne_vds Airplanes are the very best for this! It’s basically the only place where almost everyone is almost guaranteed to have earplugs or headphones!

@KaylaAncrum The only time I don't want to hear kids is when it's a newborn crying for 30+ minutes. Then I cry because I can't do anything to soothe the baby.

@AirSerpent Not everything everyone writes is designed to slight you or as a “gotcha” meant to imply the writer’s superiority. It should be okay for me to say I like things bc I enjoy chaos without you, a stranger, believing I am implying that you are lesser for having sensory sensitivity.

@KaylaAncrum What I love about traveling is watching how every culture reacts when their kid has a tantrum. So different to one another. I've just been on here talking about how many people in the west can no longer deal with discomfort and this is the perfect example.

@KaylaAncrum This toddler dropped his ice cream today and the dad caught the scoop with his hand. He yelled at his daughter to get a cup and while she was nervously trying to get one, he's sitting there, ice cream melting in his hand, shrieking toddler... it was great.

@KaylaAncrum In my experience, men make more commotion in public than babies and it escalates to danger/violence quickly. I’d rather share space with babies/small kids tbh

@KaylaAncrum The other day I walked into a pretty quiet place w my 5 and 3 y/o grandsons and out of the blue and into the quiet, 3 yelled NAYNAY DO YOU HAVE A PENIS, and the guy behind the counter snorted and gave us free cookies. Every outing everywhere is like that 😜

@KaylaAncrum A happy, giggling, squealing for joy baby is infinitely better than an upset one. But when I hear an upset one in a Target I'm like, "Yeah the both of us are hungry and missing nap time this is indeed an injustice" 😂
