Duffer Brothers reveal Holly Wheeler and her friends were not initially going to be part of Stranger Things 5.

Older films embraced vibrant color palettes, especially in the Technicolor era. Colors were bold, expressive, and part of the storytelling. Today, so much of that is flattened by heavy color correction, where everything feels muted instead of alive.

They literally turned Mike Wheeler into Carl from Up.

I can’t believe they threw a Mileven edit in the series finale to then turn around and murder Eleven in front of our eyes.

To think we’ll never have a scene of Mike telling his mother about Eleven and what she meant to him.

This is not the Stranger Things I fell in love with. Over and out.

Mike Wheeler went from being a bullied outcast to having his life start when he met his soulmate in the woods to having her ripped apart from him in the bomb he built. You can’t get crueler than that. He was the only one not happy in that final scene. He was miserable and alone.

In the epilogue it’s clear that everyone moved on but Mike. I find it disconnected to the characters. What happened to the Mike box and all the drawings that El made? To just be thrown in a bin in storage? Mike to be the lonely widower looking at the picture of his lost love?

To have Jim Hopper legally adopt El as his daughter and give her a sense of normalcy with a room, clothes, bed, waffles and a sense peace she never had and end it with her giving him the hair tie back was disrespectful to their relationship. It diminished their growth and bond.

I think it’s very telling that the character who was forced into isolation tanks, given electro-shock, thrown in dark rooms, slept without a blanket, lost her mother, bullied, found a new family, met the love of her life, was finally given normalcy and a chance had to “go away”.

Sadly I do believe Eleven “El” Jane Hopper died on the anniversary of her escape from Hawkins Lab. A dreadful, cruel and inhumane way to end a character who carried your series for five years. The character you rooted for and wanted a happy ending for got the shaft.

With no money, no passport, no birth certificate and not even a high school diploma how is it logical to have her hiking the mountains of Iceland? How is she to find residence? Attend school in her own language? It is not logical. It is not well thought out. It’s sloppy.

Leaving her ending ambiguous was a cop-out to not officially kill her when it’s clear you only brought back Kali to talk El into committing the deed. As much as I’d like to go for the “El Lives” and “I believe” I simply cannot. How I am supposed to believe that El got out?

I firmly believe Hollywood and the likes of Netflix have a distain and a hate for so-called “old fashioned” happy endings. If they really would have “stuck the landing” they should have had Mike packing for a trip and that’s all we needed to know. Eleven clearly said “us”.

The build-up of Mike and El for five seasons was completely discarded and thrown away for the sake of thrills and tears. They took a sweet little boy and a scared little girl and tore them apart when both of them needed each other. The Snow Ball and Summer of ‘85 was all for not.
