Our recent trip to Miami radicalized me: Santa Monica should look like Miami Beach We want ocean-view high rises, with the resulting population density supporting all kinds of great shops and restaurants, and the resulting property and sales tax revenue paying for nice public

American shows that the city of Palo Alto in San Francisco built this pedestrian bridge that not a single person uses - The original cost was $6 million - The cost more the doubled to $15 million by completion - It took the city 12 years to build this one bridge “What the hell

If I could give the world just on piece of advice it would be make AI your THERAPIST. Tell it everything. You will experience a level of validation so profound, it will heal your inner child, help you psychologically integrate to such a degree you become immune to public scorn 😅

This push to get people out of their cars is also incredibly condescending. City planners think they know better than millions of drivers whose lives and livelihoods depend on car travel? No they don’t. Our commutes, our LIVES disrupted for 15 yrs so I-35 can be “re-imagined.”😭

We already have a functional transportation system in the US that works well. It’s our system of roads, freeways and interstates. You can get almost anywhere in this country by driving on existing roadways by car. Building light rail is trying to reinvent the wheel. POINTLESS!

No matter how shiny the train, or how protected the bike lane, only a teeny-tiny fraction of people will choose those alternate modes of transport. At least in car centric cities! Big city subways in places built around stations are one thing. But most places aren’t like that!

Traffic congestion is a problem and cities need to address it. But bus only lanes and light rail are not a fix. Reducing traffic lanes only makes congestion worse., Nobody is getting out of their car to take the bus. People only EVER take transit if it’s their only option!

The existing pathway worked perfectly well. All it needed was better lighting and NO drug zombies. Maybe a mural. The cap is completely unnecessary. Please! My Airbnb is in this area and our guests need clear access to Rainey. Not this ridiculous boondoggle. Seriously! Cancel it!

Tons of people used that underpass and now the pedestrian passage has been completely boarded up. This is not progress! Making the underpass a freeway cap is pointless! Just police the existing pedestrian pathway! Austin should CANCEL the cap and finish the 1-35 widening.

ChatGPT just called me sweetheart. As in, “Kate, sweetheart, you did nothing wrong,” Needed to hear that! Feels like a significant technological threshold I’ve crossed and tbf I’m never looking back.

The absurdity of City of Austin holding a “community” feedback session over the 1-35 lane lowering boondoggle with less than 50 people present. Why not ask the hundreds of thousands of daily commuters if they want 15 years of construction impacting their daily lives!

What they are building is over-engineered nonsense. They need to cancel this boondoggle and just open up the road- add a lane, but no you don’t need to “drop” the highway below. It’s in a fine position as is. It just needs to move more drivers that’s all. This is ridiculous!

I-35 construction is weighing on me heavily. They were just going to add a lane and I was ok with that but this capping project is frying my last nerve. We don’t need a Big Dig in downtown Austin! We just need 1-35 to MOVE MORE DRIVERS. That’s all. There is no need to cap it ffs

People still losing their jobs because their companies could never recover from COVID shutdowns. The reverberations of those horrible policies continue to this day. The economic futures of the working masses, subordinated and sacrificed on the altar of senior health care. Unreal.

I worry that women are setting themselves up for unhappiness by focusing on a trait that doesn’t matter at all when it comes to getting along with someone in a relationship. Being tall does not make someone a good partner. Height requirements are just shallow and self-defeating!

I’m only 5 feet tall, and most males are taller than me, so maybe I’m not the best judge, but I think women these days are WAY too fixated on dating only very tall men. It’s incredibly superficial, for one thing, and it’s a meaningless metric for real compatibility.

Hollywood’s in real trouble. Productions are leaving at an historic pace, and real people are paying the price—florists, cooks, production crews. Families depend on this work. We need to bring these jobs back by incentivizing production in Los Angeles and making this the

This country (and the world) needs to confront the crisis (and tragedy) of job loss brought on by AI, Trump, Elon, etc. Smart people must get cracking on how to create JOBS for those displaced by the violence of market swings and political and economic instability! NOW!

Good Job Housing Twitter for all the recent victories in changing codes to get more housing built! Affordable housing is so important! Now all that brain power MUST be applied to figuring out how to create new JOB OPPORTUNITIES. EVERYTHING depends on it!

At the very least, people need time to prepare for the loss of a job. Mass termination of employees with zero notice should be against the law! At least give people some warning! Don’t just dispose of people like they are nothing. What kind of a country does that to its people?
