Oregon has state-level laws in place allowing abortion. But if Roe v. Wade was overturned, Oregonians living near the Idaho border could have a much harder time accessing care. @OPB's @AprilEhrlich explains:

If early reports suggesting the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade bear out, people living near the Oregon-Idaho border could find it much harder to access surgical abortion care.

Making a transition to a clean energy economy, with resilient homes and buildings and clean transportation options, all powered by 100% clean energy, will create good-paying jobs, improve health and quality of life for Oregonians, and better prepare our state for the future.

I have partnered with Speaker @DanRayfield, environmental justice advocates and our building trades to propose The Resilient, Efficient Buildings Task Force, and an ambitious Climate Budget. Together, these will move the dial on building emissions and our climate goals.

Homes and buildings are Oregon’s second largest source of climate pollution, totaling 34% of our state emissions! They’re also protection against climate threats, like heat and smoke. A Reach Code will not move the needle far or fast enough in this vital sector.

We need bold action and we need it now. As we debated the Reach Code (SB 1518) in committee, it became clear that expansive work will be needed to make our homes and buildings ready for greater climate disruptions and a clean energy future.

We’re living in a climate emergency, and the impact is being felt across Oregon. We have faced unprecedented wildfires, dangerous smoke levels, droughts that put rural families and farms at risk, and deadly heat waves and freezes that threaten our most vulnerable neighbors. 🧵
