Shocked to hear that Nikkei editor Gwen Robinson passed away! As an editor, she was one of the best- always had a word of praise . She gave me the opportunity to write about everything from colonial mansions to the role of bread in Kashmir! Will miss her! RIP.

Pitches are made of hard work and contacts with sources. No replies are not only a mistreatment of freelance journalists, but a lack of respect for their work. A yes or no would help. and I know editors who do this. But they are a rare breed. #Freelancing.

This is happening, right now. The great "arribada" (arrival) of mother Olive Ridley sea turtles on the Odisha coast in Eastern India, where they will dig sand-nests & lay their eggs, driven by ancient instinct. Heart-lifting, magnificent, moving: part of a geography of hope.
