A better, safer new bridge connecting Covington and Newport is coming! Prioritizing safety, the existing KY 8 Licking River Bridge will close January 2026, with demolition expected in Spring 2026. A new bridge will be constructed and could reopen as soon as Summer 2028.

DETOUR: Use Exit 175 to Richwood Road (KY 338) to re-enter I-71/75 SB and access Exit 173 from there. Detour signs will be posted. Additionally, a single lane closure on I-71 SB near the I-71/I-75 split will also be in place this weekend. Lane closures will alternate as needed.

As part of ongoing resurfacing work on I-71, the I-75 northbound off-ramp to I-71 southbound (Exit 173) will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, June 20, to 7 a.m. Monday, June 23 for deep base failure repairs.

🚨UPDATE: Clay Wade Bailey Bridge Closure Postponed🚨. The planned 10-day closure is now a 13-day closure starting 5 AM, June 18, due to added repairs & potential weather. The bridge reopens by 5 AM, June 30. More info here:

Beginning Sunday, June 15, there will be a 45-day closure on a portion of Bristow Road in Kenton County south of Timber Lane. This closure will allow us a safe area to begin installing a roundabout at KY 1303/KY 536. More info here:

TRAFFIC ALERT: I-71/75 Northbound Brent Spence Bridge Emergency Sign Removal. Crews will be blocking the right two lanes of I-71/75 NB in Covington from Pike Street to the Kentucky/Ohio state line due to an overhead highway sign being clipped on the Brent Spence Bridge. (1/2)

A resurfacing project in Campbell/Pendleton Counties will begin next week. Including Carthage Road (KY 1996) and three portions of Flagg Springs Pike (KY 10). Expect single lane closures during daytime working hours. Read more about the project here:

🚫The Exit 6A off-ramp from I-275 westbound to KY 237 northbound will be closed the entire time. ➡️DETOUR: Use I-275 westbound to Exit 8 (Graves Rd/KY 495) to KY 237. 👀Plan ahead and take an alternate route to avoid delays. Message boards are up to alert drivers.

Utility work is scheduled on North Bend Road (KY 237) in Hebron this Sun., May 18, between 6 and 9 AM. Crews will be installing a new utility line spanning across the roadway. ⏰Expect brief 15-minute closures in both directions just north of I-275
