Over 1.3 million displaced Sudanese are returning home—despite ongoing conflict. Many are heading back to Khartoum, Sennar and Al Jazirah, where two years of war have left devastation in their wake.

With support from the #SudanHumanitarianFund, UNHCR distributed core relief items to 58,000+ people in need across Khartoum, Blue Nile, White Nile, River Nile & Northern States. This vital support enabled us to respond swiftly to displacement, conflict & flooding in #Sudan🇸🇩.

📍 Blue Nile State 🇸🇩 Thousands of Sudanese refugee returnees live in makeshift shelters, exposed to harsh weather & lacking basics. #UNHCR delivered relief kits & family tents to 3,000+ families, reaching 40,000 people. Every item brings safety. Every tent restores dignity.

Heartbreaking to see the immense destruction in #Khartoum today, a city that has generously welcomed thousands of refugees. Huge work ahead to rebuild but authorities & partners are doing their very best to support. Our commitment to stay & support as much as we can stands.

In Khartoum, #UNHCR & Sudan’s Commission for Refugees held a refugee protection workshop with 40+ representatives from gov’t, police, judiciary & partners. Key focus: rights, responsibilities & non-refoulement, strengthening 🇸🇩#Sudan’s refugee protection framework.

Our Regional Director @mamadou_dbalde arrived in #Sudan🇸🇩 today for his mission (13–20 July). In Port Sudan, he met senior officials & visited displaced families as 12M+people are uprooted by war. The call is urgent: Sudan needs global solidarity & attention now more than ever.
