Katy Troyer, our Executive Director, recently attended the Sustainable Development in Africa Conference at the University of Denver, where she connected with colleagues and alumni to further KGSA's mission of educating and empowering girls in Kibera.

We appreciate the support extended to our KGSA teachers! Your contributions will contribute to the construction of the teachers' lounge. This space will foster collaboration among our educators and ensure effective lesson preparation for the success of our students.

KGSA supports educators by offering continuous learning opportunities to ensure the success of our girls. Our IT advisor, Sammy, exemplifies this commitment by demonstrating how to set up projectors in classrooms and prepare presentations using Microsoft Suites.

Madaraka Day is a national holiday celebrated every June 1st commemorating the year Kenya attained internal self-rule from the British empire in 1963. The Republic of Kenya was established the following year in 1964. KGSA wishes all Kenyans a Happy Madaraka Day!!

Did you know that 1 in 5 girls around the world miss school when they’re on their periods? Not at KGSA! Our school provides each student with feminine hygiene products and educates the girls on how their bodies work. No shame, no stigma. We are proud to be young ladies!

As we wrap up Mental Health Month, we thank Social Worker Jedidah for her tremendous efforts to promote the importance of mental health. She counsels the girls and staff and facilitates art therapy, yoga & support groups. It’s okay to not be okay; its okay to ask for help!

Meet Latifah, KGSA's devoted school matron! As a guiding force, she empowers girls through education, counseling, and general hygiene. Latifah is passionate about challenging negative narratives surrounding girls from disadvantaged backgrounds and giving back to the community.

Meet Dalifa! She is a math and chemistry teacher who also advises the drama club. Dalifa is a KGSA Alum who graduated in 2012. Many of you met her when she visited the US in 2019 and 2022 - her inspiring story is why we do this important work! #girleffect #teacherappreciation
