I had an incredible visit to Vine Middle this week. The energy in the building was inspiring — students were engaged, teachers were focused, and the sense of pride was everywhere. It’s clear that great things are happening at Vine.

It was incredible this week to see @KnoxSchools students in the Project SEARCH program thriving at Fort Sanders Regional! These young adults are building confidence, independence, and career skills through hands-on learning in a hospital setting.

Visited Chilhowee Intermediate today and left inspired. Every staff member—from administration to teachers to staff—owns the mission of helping every child succeed. That culture of care has spilled into the community, where involvement & support are at an all-time high.

It was great to see students across the district heading back to school this morning! I wish all our students and staff a fantastic year ahead—especially my daughter, Alex, as she begins her first year in the classroom. I’m proud of you and cheering you on!

15 pallets of water and supplies to schools in the hardest hit areas! Grateful to our Maintenance and Ops teams for pulling this together on short notice. Blessed to be able to support our neighbors in need.

In a rapidly changing economy, we know that students need strong digital skills for success after graduation. I was excited to talk about the district's work to foster STEM education during a visit today with Gov. Bill Lee and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs at L&N STEM Academy.

It was great to be at Holston Middle School this week, and I was excited to visit with performing arts teacher Natalee Elkins, who is one of 9 finalists for Tennessee Teacher of the Year. We’ll be rooting for her as the competition continues!

It was exciting to meet with the district’s talented school leaders as we kicked off the 2024 Principal Institute today! Thanks to our outstanding principals and AP’s, and to Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, who received the district’s first-ever KCS Champion award.

KCS is celebrating the first-ever Youth Apprenticeship Week! 🛠️ Through the @865academies, about 400 KCS sophomores engage in CTE programming that could lead them to credentials in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and residential and commercial construction! 🚧
