Have a crank up tower with a manual crank? Check out what KF7P is selling. I have a similar powered winch (not sold by him) on my crank up tower and it’s a pleasure to use! https://t.co/X4YXrsn2c4

Installed and setup the SDC skimmer software today. Pretty cool and seems to work well on broad CW decoding when fed an IQ from the rig. Also feeds spots to a telnet and into the Flex waterfall.

Amazing what some 20 dB of amplification from a classic c3x1500a7 tube can do to a single watt!

This is one of the most elaborate and complete ham radio stations I’ve ever seen. You’ve got a wild setup, W4USA! https://t.co/fMg4SnAXFJ

New update for the Flex Radio iOS app from Marcus, DL8MRE. Excited to see the FT8 compound message function has been added—awesome.

Should you run a KW on FT8? Well, that’s a question for you and your system, but do understand that would take a HEAVY toll on all components in your station. You might just melt something. :)

How much power do *I* run on FT8? Well, it depends! I often like to offload the RF work onto an external amplifier, for example: Flex 8600 sending 2 watts into my Alpha 9500. Alpha 9500 handling most of the work, putting out about 95 watts of JT mode glory! But, if I’m trying

Good to hear that there are some promising paths to keepHamClock alive, or at least launch new version(s) that aren’t reliant on WBØOEW’s personal server for data handling. It’s enough that we seem to lose so many hams that contribute to our community—we certainly don’t need

@K5PO Doing the same here with these two ICOM radios. At least they are protected from lightning strikes! 😎

The venerable Kenwood TR-7850 2 meter rig. Not hooked up to an antenna or power. Just sitting on display in the shop. Too pretty to tuck away in a box!

Feels like I'm getting out! Decent DX conditions tonight on 20 and 40.

It seems the Victron products are considered reliable and best-in-class. I’m curious about any RFI concerns from any Victron inverter-chargers? I’m not interested in any solar power or solar controllers at this time.

Currently thinking about 2x280aH 12.8v lifepo4 batteries in parallel. Then adding an inverter-charger to maintain batteries and provide AC when the grid is down.

I’m working on designing a new lifepo4 battery system for the home shack. The batteries will provide primary DC power to all radio equipment as well as power an inverter for AC backup in a power failure.
