🕊️We are shocked by the tragic passing of GM Daniel Naroditsky. As a teen, Daniel played in Wijk aan Zee twice, still accompanied by his mother at the time. Later he was commentator of our tournament. We wish Daniels Family much strength in dealing with this terrible loss.

Wanted to share a few thoughts on the sad news of the passing of Robert Hubner. He was, of course, a great chess player, one of the top players in the world in the 70s and 80s, and he came very close to fighting for the world title. I had a chance to interact with him and play

My view, whatever it is important or not, is that chess is about moves from our heroes. The players make their moves and that is why we watch and love chess. Jeans/Classic/Rapid/Blitz is about moves. Happy 2025! Chess has a bright future!

It is with sadness that I announce the death of my father Joris, who passed away peacefully yesterday at the respectful age of 92. The picture was made in better times, in the early seventies. Rest in peace, dad.

I am sad to read the news of the death of Sigrun, mother of @MagnusCarlsen. Too young, obviously. I remember her in a personal encounter in Wijk aan Zee, at one of our closing ceremony's. Smiling, funny, vivid. I wish the Family all the strength that is needed now.
