It has been a long journey, but finally the negotiation result has been achieved. Congratulations on turning a new page in EU-Mercosur relations!.
We have concluded the negotiations for the EU-Mercosur agreement. It marks the beginning of a new story. I now look forward to discussing it with EU countries. This agreement will work for people and businesses. More jobs. More choices. Shared prosperity.

Today I met five democracy support organisations to discuss âCall to Defend Democracy: 10 Priorities for the EUâ, published by them. Thank you for the fruitful exchange of views. Democracy is one of the EUÂŽs founding values also underpinning the EUÂŽs Global Gateway strategy.

I attended yesterday the ministerial meeting of the Resettlement Diplomacy Network (RDN) convened by US State Secretary Anthony Blinken. The EU is committed to safe and legal pathways to protection and it is also part of the Pact on Migration and Asylum.

In the discussion on Horn of Africa I affirmed our focus on fragile countries (Sudan, Somalia), roll out Global Gateway, where context allows it (Ethiopia, Kenya) and promote regional integration notably under the Horn of Africa initiative.

Yesterday was (most probably) my last Foreign Affairs Council as a Commissioner. I had the floor on the matter of Horn of Africa. I want to thank Member States for the support in my work. And especially thanks to my friend Josep Borrell for the excellent cooperation.
