I’m looking forward to joining this iconic football club, the biggest in the world and helping to continue the tradition of developing young players for the 1st team and football in general. I can’t wait to put the boots on and get started 🙌🏿⚽️
I lost my friend 4 years ago today. A giant of a man in stature and kindness. He was a big brother to me and a father figure to the players he coached. He was an outstanding defender, a brilliant teammate and great friend to many. RIP Ugo Ehiogu.🖤🙏🏿
Yesterday was my last day with
@ManUtd
, it was a short spell but an enjoyable time with the academy. The club has good people throughout and there are a number of young players with bright futures ahead of them. I leave with good memories, thank you and all the best!
I’m looking forward to joining
@BrentfordFC
and adding value to the coaching team! I’ve been so impressed by the people at the club, the recent success is incredible. The club is forward thinking, progressive, and I can’t wait to get started 🙌🏿⚽️🐝
I took my son football training for his local team last night and I was talking to 2 parents. I was so shocked to hear from both parents that take their sons to football 6 days a week! The boys are 8. The only thing this guarantees is fatigue. 1/2
The Manchester Utd supporters at Valley Parade were different class! The atmosphere they created by singing all night was brilliant for our youngsters involved in the game. Another experience that supports their development. 👏🏿⚽️
The desire to have their son signed by an academy is causing so many issues. Many kids are over training with multiple teams and a 1 to 1 coach. Parents are paying a lot of money, doing lots of miles and children are being taken from pitch to pitch. Where does it stop? 2/2
Old Trafford is a special stadium, our U18s are now in the Youth Cup Final and we’ll play here. The players are committed to improving daily and its paying off in this competition. Tonight was impressive. Enjoyable. 😁
I sent my 8 year old son to bed on 85mins and told him the game was over, he will be fuming in the morning when he sees the score. He’s missed one of the greatest comebacks in European football history, I actually feel bad.
My first month at Brentford has been enjoyable, the players have worked extremely hard in preseason and we’ve had some positive performances. Final preparations this week before the start of the PL season on Sunday! Let’s go 🐝’s !!!!⚽️
Everyday is a school day! I learnt some new defending detail from Paul McShane today, these players are taking it all in and contributing to the discussion.
Today was my last day at the FA. I’ve enjoyed the experience and learnt so much. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work with some of the best talent in the country. I’m getting ready for the new challenge, but now it’s time to cheer on Gareth and the boys tonight 🏴⚽️🙌🏿
I’m shocked at what I’m hearing some 1-2-1 coaches are charging per hour. Please don’t take advantage of academies not being open, parents are under pressure to pay. I’m sure some add value but coaches who love coaching let’s be generous with our time.
Met Danny Welbeck today at St George’s Park, he was working hard on his fitness but took time out to speak to our group of U16s 🏴 He spoke wisdom to the youngsters. what a TOP guy 🙌🏿🏴👊🏿
@DannyWelbeck
From coaching grassroots at 17 to becoming head of player development and coaching at Manchester United.
At our coaching conference,
@JustinCochrane8
reflected on his inspiring coaching journey and emphasised the importance of hard work... 💪📈

“It’s entirely possible.” ✅
“One of the things we have to effect is people’s beliefs in what is possible.”
“We’re definitely making progress.”
Gareth Southgate tells us that England could have a black manager very soon.

@Laura_Woodsy
A really good football day.. our game against Spurs then on to the Emirates. It was great seeing Chris Hughton today. He’s always had time for me and shared some wisdom today in our 10 minute chat during halftime. I can’t speak highly enough of Chris, top, TOP man 🙌🏿⚽️
This group continue to surprise me. Despite all the setbacks, injuries, and bad luck we keep moving forward. 3 tough games this week, we have a lot to improve on but the players give everything in every game. 🐝
This journey I’m on keeps getting better! What an incredible season. I think we’ve surprised a lot of people. When you have a top manager, good supporting staff and committed players, you can achieve so much. I’m looking forward to next season already. Let’s go 🐝🐝🐝😁🙌🏿⚽️
King Kev👏🏿.. we played together for Middlesex, we studied and passed our Pro Licence together and now working together for this fantastic club. He’s a Brentford legend. 25 years+ of service. He’s a class act and I’m glad he has a room named after him at our new training ground ⚽️
"He is the glue, and a big, big reason why we are where we are today. 𝙃𝙚 𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩"
Kevin O'Connor was surprised with a room at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre renamed in his honour 👑
#BrentfordFC
A top 10 finish guaranteed 😁
It’s been a great season, we have a good group of players and our work ethic, environment, culture and togetherness has given us an edge. 2 more big games coming up 🐝
I worked in an academy for 9 seasons and releasing players is the worst part of the job. It is inevitable for the vast majority, whether it be at 12, 16 or 20. What’s important is at that moment the person has support.
I’ve spent close to 3 months working closely with the
@AFCWimbledon
1st team, this club is special, it has special people and a remarkable story. I’ve managed 2 jobs which has been great and an excellent learning experience. I love football so being involved in their survival 1/2
An incredible day for
@BrentfordFC
supporters, players and staff. Wow. We go again next week! 🐝 It was good to see some friends from
@ManUtd
and to speak briefly with
@AnthonyElanga
and
@agarnacho7
. I wish them well for the remainder of the season.
I’m so happy Paul has joined, it’s a unique role but one that can supports the development of a lot of players. Paul has a depth of experience, he’ll support our defenders and provide a challenge for the attacking boys. Having an experienced leader in training can only help. ⚽️
A big thanks to everyone for the kind messages, really appreciate it. Delighted with my new role back where it all began and looking forward to learning/working with the staff and players.
@ManUtd
Working with senior players, having to win games and working with volunteers and people who genuinely love their club makes you remember what football is actually about. I plan on visiting Plough Lane once the supporters are back in and bringing my boys to the game. 2/2
Express yourself and play with a smile on your face… Gareth’s message to Jack Grealish before he came on! It’s that simple, let creative players be free ! ⚽️
An excellent 10 days on camp with the U16s, ended with 3 wins and a trophy 🏆 for the kids. 3 good games against Denmark 🇩🇰, USA 🇺🇸 and Spain. Lots of learnings and things to improve but a good experience for all involved.
Some notes taken yesterday from the speakers
@CoachesVoice
! Please remember to not confuse session design with coaching. The session isn’t coaching, the session allows coaching and learning to take place. Neil Bath from Chelsea raised this point too. Lots to digest. ⚽️
I spent yesterday with 2 young Man Utd players at
@AFCWimbledon
. They spent a week at the club and experienced what a 1st team environment is all about. The boys had a memorable time. Mark Robinson has created a great environment and an young exciting squad. ⚽️
Coaches help players on their journey, but players help coaches too. I’m grateful to all the players I’ve coached. Some taught me some valuable lessons!
I’ve reviewed our U16 games this season closely and it’s back to the same things for youth football. It’s so important our players can dominate 1v1 scenarios, and our creative players in particular can still get success 1v2.
My friends 12 year old son has just been released from a top cat 1 academy. Parents please just reassure your son at this time, be supportive, it’s not the time for critique. There will be a time to discuss further but initially just support.
Defeat is tough to take but it was a top away performance, our players gave everything. The margins have not gone our way recently. Manchester is a great city and Old Trafford is special. It could have been different but we dust ourselves down and go again after the break. ⚽️🐝
Yesterday I had the pleasure to sit with Wayne Rooney and ask him a number of questions about his career, how he dealt with pressure and leadership. He gave the England U16s boys and girls great insight! Thanks again
@WayneRooney
🙌🏿🏴⚽️
Great to see you,
@WayneRooney
! 😃
A memorable afternoon for our men's and women's under-16 squads at St. George's Park earlier this week, as they got the chance to talk to the

Just watched the Anelka documentary. Misunderstood is the correct title. He admitted he made mistakes.. lots of them. A talented player who won a lot but I sit here thinking he could of had a lot more! Coaches, it’s a must watch. 👍🏿
18 years ago I was sat here at
@stalbanscityfc
as a Hayes player who was suspended after getting 5 yellow cards. I approached a
@crewealexfc
scout who I saw sitting in the stand and asked him who he was here to watch. I then told him he should watch me and I was good enough (1)
What a moment. Nick Tsaroulla scores his first goal in senior football. Back in 2017, during his time in Spurs’ academy, Nick was involved in a car crash and missed a year of football before eventually being released. He has certainly comeback fighting 🙌
I’ve had an enjoyable 6 days with the England U17 squad (minus our year 11 players), our first camp since February. The group trained well and adapted to the protocols we had to follow. No game unfortunately but the internal games were of a high level.

Just leaving Spain after 10 days with the England 🏴 U16s at the
#SportChainCupAlbir
we drew 3-3 with Spain in the final game. We was leading with 20 seconds left - that would of brought home the trophy.😞 The boys were excellent, no regrets just memories and lessons!
I just did a podcast with
@RailwaymenThe
about my journey into football, time at Crewe then into my coaching journey. I enjoyed it, maybe more podcasts in 2021? 😃
It’s been a great month. We keep striving to improve! The 🐝🐝 fans get every stadium pumping and that gives the boys extra energy. My vote goes to Thomas 😉
If you are a football person please join the challenge of posting a football photo. Just one picture, no description. Please copy the text in your status, post a picture and look at some great memories/pictures. Missing football so very much
What a game!!! Benzema showing the importance of being able to head the ball. 3 headers over the 2 legs. Need to improve our forwards heading without exceeding guidelines ⚽️
I spend time telling the young players I coach that nutmegs are not important in football matches yet I keep trying to ‘megs’ my sons in the back garden.
If you are bored today, have a listen to me waffling for an hour about my journey from QPR, non-league to Crewe and a few stories, my time as a pro, and then onto my coaching journey! It was good fun speaking with
@RailwaymenThe
👍🏿
🚨New pod🚨
Special one today as we are joined by ex
#CreweAlex
player, former
#thfc
coach and current
@England
U17's head coach
@JustinCochrane8
. He talks us though his journey from Hayes to St George's Park.
signed in preseason. The scout was Bill Berry, a gentleman and proper football person. He died less than year after I joined Crewe. Who knows where I would be if I had not been bold that day at St.Albans. A bit long but it’s filled the 15mins half-time as I watch Watford 23s. (3)
There are some excellent British coaches who that given an opportunity and the right support around them can flourish. I’ve enjoyed watching their teams recently. Bolton v Ipswich on Saturday was a good game and the MK v Wimbledon in the week also. All have good coaches leading.
I enjoyed spending the afternoon last Monday at the legendary Cliff training ground watching England 🏴 U17s prepare for their tournament in Poland. So much history associated with The Cliff. A quick chat with one of my hero’s growing up, Paul Davis

I went to the park today with my 11 year old cousin who is an academy player, I coached him for just under an hour.. Wow I miss coaching. It felt good. Had to share. 😄

I hope QPR, Fulham and Swansea go up this season. Crewe win league 2 and
@EnfieldBoroFC
get promoted.. and please Arsenal just sign a decent centre half 🤣

I was speaking to these 3 players back in September whilst they were on international duty. We were discussing their challenges! Football can change very quickly! Japhat made his PL debut recently, Noni Madueke made his debut for PSV today and Paris has joined Brentford.
Looking forward to this game! Our young players who are here at St George’s Park should feel excited about the England manager having so much faith in youth.
Congratulations Kyle...! It’s been a journey...! I remember being annoyed when Kieran put you to RB... what did I know then? You’ve always had a love for the game, excellent technique and played football with a smile on your face. Catch up soon 👊🏿.
13 years! It’s been a dream come true to play for my local club from 10 years old through to the first team! Thank you to all the staff and the fans
@spursofficial
who have supported me throughout the years, wishing you all the best for the future! 💙
Amazing moment for the youngsters! Well done to all the academy staff who put in countless hours! Gary Broadhurst, Joe Staunton, Mem Ali, Michael Donaldson, Tony Tillbrook, Bradley Allen, Stuart Lewis and Perry Suckling. They have played a role in all recent academy graduates 👏🏿
Lee Grant and Phil Jones are here supporting the U19s. Fair play to Jones who asked this morning if he could come down to show his support in down time before the game tonight. Not in the CL squad but viewed as important member of first team.
Yesterday I enjoyed presenting on “Preparing players for the next steps to get a job in the game” for the
@premierleague
and
@EnglandLearning
event at Walsall. I combined my experiences as a player, a developer, and working with AFC Wimbledon last season.⚽️
During this time of lockdown I hope young kids who have access to a space inside or outside practice with a ball, and fall in love with it. I think it’s happening to my 6 year old.
I’m enjoying watching both Man City and Manchester Utd at the moment. Different styles of play but equally entertaining, both academies have talent too. Good people in charge there.
Massive game for
@ManUtd
under 18’s tonight in the FA youth cup quarter finals against Leicester city at Old Trafford.
Nearly 10,000 tickets sold for tonight’s game. The atmosphere is going to be ELECTRIC ⚡️

Football can change very quickly. Young players must keep their head down, train well, show the right mentality and wait for an opportunity, then take it. ⚽️
to be a professional. I pestered him and in the 2nd half he gave me his address and that same day I sent him my fixtures. I was assertive and I backed myself. He watched me play for Hayes and attended around 4/5 games then recommended me to Crewe. I went on trial and got (2)
Just got off the phone to Neil Banfield... he’s a TOP guy! He’s invited me in to QPR. They are my 3rd team. Crewe Alex is my 2nd team. I saw Kenny Lunt, Lee Bell and James Collins on Sunday.. proper football people
