The WH's AI Action plan has some good stuff. But it begins, "The US is in a race to achieve global dominance in AI.". Like many, @simondgoldstein and I think that an AI arms race w/ China is a mistake. Our new paper lays out a novel game-theoretic approach to avoiding the race.

That not a single one of these 8 scenarios is willing to entertain the prospect of cooperation globally, or between the US and China on AI safety, is profoundly depressing. A potent illustration of the power of imaginaries to frame possible futures: they can expand how we think.

I worry that by the end of this great rebalancing back to hemispheric defense, we'll have negotiated away more than a few H20s.

Mollick's point is that humans have deeply wrong ideas about how their organizations ACTUALLY work. This is well documented. Thus: AIs trained on how people think they work--trained on wrong PROCESS--will be trounced by organizational AIs guided solely by desired OUTCOMES.
