Whilst we await responses from West Yorkshire Police, the National Police Chief’s Council and the College of Policing, we will continue to campaign for justice for our son, and all families affected by police violence.

These are failures which our family has raised over and over again since our son’s death. We are devastated that the Coroner’s findings failed to address the institutional culture of West Yorkshire Police and the force more widely.

The report raises concerns about West Yorkshire Police’s (WYP) response to Anu’s increasing workplace difficulties during his time as a student police officer. It also highlights the failure of Anu’s line managers to offer emotional and practical support.

Last October we attended inquest proceedings into the death of our beloved 21 year old Anugrah. The recent release of a Prevention of Future Deaths Report by the Senior Coroner for Mcr North vindicates our quest to hold to account a system which Anugrah tried hard to trust.

This was not, & will never be a safe environment for kids like our Anu. We only feel pure grief that he & we had to find this out in this way. We are grateful to orgs like @KidsOfColourHQ & @npolicemonitor who have been here to call out these important truths since the beginning.
