4/The ‘Maturity Matrix’ is a promising tool to track how well forces are embedding anti-racism. We’ve pushed for a child rights lens to be fully integrated. It must lead to real, tangible change in police interactions with Black children.

We’re pleased @PoliceISOB has recognised the role of adultification bias—where Black children are perceived as older, threatening & less in need of protection. This must be addressed in police training & guidance. We await the findings of the impending ‘Adultification Review.’.

2/ Policing continues to disproportionately harm Black and other racialised children. We see it every day. From police use of force, to strip searches, Black children are treated as threats rather than as children first and foremost.
