A School fights for esports to be a part of the athletic department. Esports program becomes the winningest program in the entire athletic program. Esport program doesn't get any recognition for being simply the most recruited for/most successful at the school. Go figure.
I'm looking for a paid caster for a Rocket league tournament on Saturday May 20th. If anyone knows anyone they can recommend I'd love to chat with them.
Any RTs and recommendations would be massive! Potential for reoccurring contract as well.
Staff gap is real in collegiate. Having good players is not enough to win in this modern day of collegiate. Good coaches and managers make the key difference, and it's really showing at these higher levels.
How do we keep pretending this is sustainable at any level? We are fostering an industry that doesn't reward competency at any level. Tons of people want to hype up the future of collegiate, but how do we as adults let this slide? I was paid 19/hr when I was studying undergrad.
More fun Overwatch news! I'm seeking able casters for a OW tournament on July 1st. We have a day rate or per hour $ both available depending on what is ideal for the caster. Teams registered so far are all 4.5k sr plus.
Any help RT/Sharing is appreciated.
RIP, lil guy. Every day between 10pm and 4 am, she would keep me company at my awful night job and give me a reason to drive 30 min to stare at boats all night. She was my partner in crime, my therapist when students were acting up, and someone who was always happy to see me.
JOB OPENING:
COMPANY NAME: Fiber Gaming Network 🛜
PAY: 50-70k Salary 💸
Where: Remote🖥️
The position has a focus on running and managing gaming tournaments while being able to handle customer service for when additional support is needed.
Esport directors actually need a legitimate union or therapy group. The number of adults working 80 hours a week for 40k just to have your school tell you that you aren't worth a 10k raise is nuts. It doesn't matter if you do it for your students if you can't survive it.
I think in 2023 we are going to be rocked by more collegiate leaders leaving for tech. We cannot keep asking coaches/directors to bet their futures on athletic departments who won't pay more than 45k per year. You can find entry level jobs that pay more and directors deserve more
I cant respond to this clown because he blocked me because he has a fragile ego but this is why collegiate gets laughed at. This person is supposed to be an adult amongst college kids and he has such a piss poor understanding of what esports really is that he tweets shit.
Collegiate esports will start becoming legitimate when we start awarding competitive programs attention and acknowledgment. We have coaches I've never heard of and programs I've never heard of winning coach/director of the year while
@WinUBo
is out here beating
@MaryvilleGG
. 😞😞
Collegiate esports is an abusive ex that just beats me repeatedly. No director is paid enough to deal with the nightmare that the American education system puts us through. Especially esport kids.
I'm constantly reminded how the collegiate ecosystem is filled with the rejects from real esports who filled their time working at gamestop/best buy instead of the industry. There is a reason the standard is so pisslow. Good luck at your small school in the Midwest.
I need 2 RL casters for this weekend! Event is saturday: Day Rate! Ideally some vods of casting RL included. Any RTs/ or Vouches would be appreciated as it's last second!
Hot take: playVS couldn't scam enough colleges to generate revenue so they are returning to preying on highschools. Ceo needs to flex more on Instagram honestly. 0
Hot take. ISU isn't to blame. TO's in collegiate don't have any spine when it comes to big name colleges. How can we take ourselves seriously if we can't have LAN events without stuff like this? If a TO agrees its on the TO's hands. If the TO was lied to then the ISU is to blame.
I'm officially 29, which means I deserve my esport retirement fund. This year, I wanted to remind myself what esports is to the rest of the world. It's easy to forget that it's more than just a game.
I'm looking for valorant players for a spring recruiting class immortal +. The Valorant room is open 24/7, and players get their own dedicated station. Scholarships range from 50% to 100% tuition depending on academics+esport exp. RT appreciated. DM to inquire.
Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but expect to never catch me admitting I'm drunk tweeting while being the director of a collegiate program. That stuff didn't fly when I was t1 or an esport director. I guess d1 collegiate esports is different.
Since January, my goal has been to mentor/grow this program. Since then, we have added 30+ new Commits for Fall(in 7 months) and doubled our facility space. Helping develop this program aligns with my goal of helping create educational tools for all directors. Education = success
🚨🚨ANNOUNCEMENT🚨🚨
Cumberland University Esports would like to Welcome
@JustMwood
to the coaching staff as a Graduate Assistant!
Wood brings a plethora amount of Esports knowledge when it comes to Collegiate! We are Excited for all the talent he will bring to the program!
Cumberland valorant LF 1 player for spring. Images below of VAL facility. Open 24/7, lockers,no sharing pc. Immortal + minimum ideally vlr/rib. Co-ed. Close enough to Nashville for kbbq, far enough not to die for parking on campus. RT appreciated.
We owe it to the future esport generation to eliminate playVS. Don't let this just a public outrage. We must communicate with those using playVS and give them alternatives to ensure these predatory actions don't continue. We owe it the kids and future generations.
I don't like being the collegiate doomsayer. If anyone gets offered a job in a collegiate that's well paid or nicely resourced, I'd love to celebrate you. The issue is that so many suffer in silence "for my students" and then quit due to declining health. We need to support them.
I'm seeking some recommendations for PC companies for my program. Purchasing 30 PCs for the Fall of 2021 with the goal of getting them bulk ordered and shipped before august!! I'm open to working with new companies and beyond! I would greatly appreciate RT/sharing this around!
I am actively looking for someone with esport data analyst experience (google sheet GOD) to assist with the upcoming cumberland valorant season. PAID/REMOTE/GEAR and if the role impresses travel.
Any RT or vouches would be massively appreciated.
I typed a spicy tweet and deleted it becuase what will complaining about esport politics actually achieve? I'm just going to venmo some directors some spa/vacation money becuase they deserve to know they are doing a good job. Please @ directors/staff that you feel are worthy.
This isn't a new program, btw. I know I seem doom and gloom about collegiate, but when do we pay directors more? When they recruit? Clearly not. When they build a program? Clearly not. When they hit milestones? Clearly not because everyone either transitions out or to a new uni.
How do we keep pretending this is sustainable at any level? We are fostering an industry that doesn't reward competency at any level. Tons of people want to hype up the future of collegiate, but how do we as adults let this slide? I was paid 19/hr when I was studying undergrad.
I'm getting old because the highlight of my trip was seeing all my old students and friends being incredible at their jobs/roles. Being able to catch up and hear how they are doing was worth every hour of the drive. They remind me why I'm still kicking around collegiate esports.
A lonely birthday this year, but I'm happy to report that everyone that was apart of the program I was building has 1) ended up in a better destination 2) has such a good deal it legit can't be matched.
Thanks to everyone who made it tolerable during the rough times in 2022.
I'm looking for a Logo to be made. Esports in nature but want to have it revolve more about a Football Club logo. I would really appreciate help/RT to help connect me with someone who can get the job done well!
I'm going to bed early. Congrats
@Mawxed
@Fame_mK2
@AustinCruelty
@ChrisRadial
@Noysii
on winning the MW Tespa National Tournament. I hope the school gets you a banner for being the best team in the country. Hope the school recognizes what a gift the esports program is.
I am looking to help connect 3 valorant players with collegiate programs. All are immortal + players and have hit radiant. 2/3 have played against some of the best collegiate teams In the country. They are international so I'm looking to assist them. RT would be massive.
Small appreciation post for one of our players
@phxSunZu
. After struggling with challenges both in and out of the game all semester when we needed him the most he showed up and won it for the program. Many would want instant results but he stuck it out and improved. GGs.
I am looking for some collegiate val teams to scrim before school starts. We have 3 rosters, so a great range of skillsets. If any directors are looking/interested, I would love to connect.
4 years ago, I was attending the League of legends world championship as a competitor. Now I'm in Tennessee crashing an electric scooter. I'm having way more fun in one of the scenarios. Sometimes, success doesn't make you happy.
I just want to be clear I've made a ton of mistakes in my life, but I've never jeopardized my players knowingly. I've been in esports for over 14 years and traveled the world for it. Yea, I'm an asshole, I make dumb decisions, I can be tough to work with, but I'm a player first.
2 week notice in at my IT job. Very excited for the next step in my life away from this line of work and back into something I'm super passionate about.
Cumb val is looking for 2 to 3 final players for spring. I begged the director for more money, so now we have that and bananas in facility thanks to
@linhach
. If you aren't dumb I can full ride you. I require only the ability to shoot enemies in valorant. I also have staff spots.
Seeking radiant + val players(2) for spring 2024 cval.
The val program has existed for 70 days.
1) 21st in the country
2) winner delta region rbcc
3) 24/7 facility.
4) 50%-100% tuition covered.Pending grades
5) largest valorant only facility east coast.
RT appreciated.
I'm looking for a data analyst/analyst to join cumberland valorant(remote). We got 5th at HUE and are adding more pieces to our program this spring. Adding data/tracking data is a big part of what the program needs as we grow.
Photos are 2 years apart. From corporate accountant to esports coach. Couldn't be happier with my decision. Chase your dream even if its utterly insane at the time.
Mask was off for photo.
Being a collegiate esports directors doesn't mean you are a subject matter expert. I agree with Gidd. To many absolutely random collegiate grifters marking bold takes.
Lot of interesting takes about the esports "path to pro" from people who've never been remotely close to the "pro" level.
Isn't as simple as make game, make league, add money, gg. Should focus on getting students to graduate instead of selling dreams you can't deliver on.
First lan since worlds for me. Covid has been tough and not traveling has been worse.
Thankfully I have the Converse team with me and we are looking forward to sitting down with some potential Converse esport athletes.
I think we might have found our Rocket League team entirely via
@Stay_Plugged_In
. A great service that is a serious resource and tool for schools starting up! IF YOU HAVE A NEW PROGRAM or are LOOKING to expand they have the tools to help you find the right kids.
Collegiate esports is a blessing that we often take for granted because we have varsity programs that pay for everything. Consider supporting a group of young men with their dream in an ecosystem where we often consider travel/hotels as a given not a luxery.
Officially 26. This year has without a doubt has been the hardest out of them all. Regardless of the bad the good really shines bright. Celebrating today thinking about how lucky I am to have met so many good people this year. In 2021 I will be a better person because of them.
It's a financial job. Guys I just decided to bite the bullet and get back in the financial sector. The pay is great and that's what I needed. 100% still talking to tons of programs and directors as i want to be in esports collegiately. Love all of the positivity. I needed it.
The final day of boot camp was a success. 15 scrims in one day to help finalize the rosters and a ton of final content for our docuseries. 2 weeks of pure esports/team bonding was brutal.
I am super excited to finally begin recruiting for League of Legends.
Our space is certainly coming along quickly and I'm beyond ready to get more rigs/desks to accommodate the incoming team!
If you know someone or might be interested in trying out. Please reach out to me.
If you vote to directly impact this tournament you shouldnt be allowed to be anonymous. Students and coaches should know who negatively and positively impacted their seeding/placement. If you require anonymity then it may be because you fear retribution for doing the wrong thing
After four months of fierce competition the 2023 CLOL Championship bracket is here! 32 schools are coming together to show us the best that College LoL has to offer. Keep up on starting tomorrow!
#CLOL
I didn't get the job I was thrilled/excited to do. That being said I can't blame anyone but myself. I'll continue my absolute grind of 90+ hours per week with my 2 full time jobs + part time coaching job till something comes along. We go next.
I am looking for some additional photographers/videographers for HUE fest. We have several support staff coming but want to beef up even more in regards to content/ storytelling. Any RTs or vouchers are appreciated massively.
All for programs hyping themselves up but isn't this a bit misleading and easily pulled apart by anyone with any relative experience in esports?
We really need better classification out of the NACE system for "national championships".
I'm seeking a bright, valorant mind to join a group of absolutely insane valorant staff for the spring of 2024. The position is remote and comes with benefits.
You'll need to endure player egos and want to achieve something considerable to work within the group. RT WOULD HELP!
I promised myself I wouldn't get back into amateur unless it was for the right reasons. I feel like I'm the dumbest person in the group and that excites me to be around so many bright young esport professionals.
A fantastic first day! Words cannot describe how thankful I am for the opportunity that
@Valkyrie_Sports
has given me. A chance to build something unique and nationally recognized. All eyes on fall 2021.
I have worked in collegiate esports for 4 years and never had a positive interaction or promise kept about a pay raise.
I have spent less than 6 months in Tech and I have gotten a pay raise+promotion.
It makes no sense what so ever.
I wanted to personally thank
@DocReggies
and
@connera23
and
@OUBrave1
as well as everyone at
@esports_ottawa
for allowing me a brief stint in collegiate. It was an amazing journey. These young people are the future and they deserve someone special. Thank you for everything.
Officially, no longer with the nightmare university. My commitment to the few students left is unchanged. I'll just be working as their friends not their director.
Another day and another masters degree are required to get paid 60k per year to be an esport director.
It all really feels like a scam when they pay fresh undergraduates 40k per year but require additional schooling for an extra 20k with no additional benefit.
No longer "Sendme2Nam", I am "Going2nam". Excited to go see all my old players and find out how the VCS accomplishes more than the LCS while operating on funding levels less than the NACL. Lmk if anyone wants anything while i'm over there I have a suitcase strictly for stuff.
Starting day 2 with a great conversation on women in esports. I would love to have more round tables about this as it really is key for our industry.
Day 2 is already kicking day 1s ass right now.
I'm actively looking to help place 4 students who can compete in the ccl asap. They have a great grades and should place easily within the top 15 ccl teams in the nation. Any help at all with potential schools would be appreciated. I will personally drive them to your school.
"Collegiate esport is moving in the right direction." I think people need to realize colleges are going to continue to cut costs and hire less experience to keep costs low. The issue is when they don't have any real chance of promotion and have to leave for other industries.
This is NOT uncommon and becoming more and more of an issue in our industry. It's these situations that breathe fire into me and is why I'm seeking allies within the academic world of esports. Directors are being abused and we need to get together and protect each other.
As of today I am no longer employed at Juniata. They’ve terminated my position with no warning and I’m not sure where the program goes from here…
Four years of work just thrown away. I feel for all the students and I wish I could make things better. Y’all don’t deserve this 💔
It didn't last long enough, but I'm happy I got to be here for the national tournament. Thank you for making me better as a person and stronger as someone in collegiate esports. Your next uni is incredibly lucky! Vamos 2024!
@AaronSukry
@TheLucho201
@ZooNerUS
@MDesmays
Bootcamp concluded after we got snowed out! Thank you to
@WKUeSports
valorant for coming out and working with us, and thank you to the high school scout team. This weekend was incredibly enlightening and provided so much value to our program.
We added a dedicated vod/chill space to the facility. We figured that having a players lounge for movies/anime is good but having multiple spaces for multiple teams would be better.
Another constant reminder that Collegiate esports is suffering from a decline in pay and full time positions. I love getting notifications to remind myself how incredibly screwed the industry is. Yes you need a Bachelors degree to work as a temporary worker 8 hours a week now!
Had several old colleges that passed up on me reach out to me about taking their Esport Director position. I'm now able to help qualified candidates get into those positions to ensure that we have more successful programs. We need to build more elite programs.
I want to compete again. To win. To build. To create. Every day, every week, and every moment I spend trying to reclaim portions of the world I fell from. Is being a mentor all I'm good for now? From top of the esports world to Kansas, to SC and all the way back to VA.
I'm looking for a paid caster for a Rocket league tournament on Saturday May 20th. If anyone knows anyone they can recommend I'd love to chat with them.
Any RTs and recommendations would be massive! Potential for reoccurring contract as well.
For any transfers we do require you inform your directors before we even get into a convo about scholarship. It's important for us that there is transparency all around anyone looking to transfer in.
I'm looking for valorant players for a spring recruiting class immortal +. The Valorant room is open 24/7, and players get their own dedicated station. Scholarships range from 50% to 100% tuition depending on academics+esport exp. RT appreciated. DM to inquire.
Not that any of the people that cried so much about UONA care but today the final students got their documents officially transferred to an accredited university.
Considering the outcome and how happy/set the students are at their new universities all the shit was worth it!
Can anyone recommend a good gfx artist? I need to do an announcement and profile overhaul since it's February, and the company passed its series A funding goal.
I have a single spot open for a non Visa player (US/CA). 70-100% of tuition. Seeking someone that wants to come in and compete for a varsity spot. You need decent grades for a conversation to happen. RT/Vouches appreciated.
