Scarlet fever is getting a lot of media attention at the moment, because of an increased number of cases and sporadic antibiotic shortages. I know parents are worrying. So, here's another set of photos of what it looks like on darker skin. #MedTwitter #scarletfever #BLM

Yes! Language matters. The connotations of ‘risk’ (rather than ‘chance’ or ‘likelihood’) can be damaging and perpetuate stigma. This applies to genetic conditions and disabilities too.
I just peer reviewed an article rife with risk based language, "high risk MSM", "high risk homosexual behavior", "high risk sex". Wanted to tear it to shreds, as a person who has had these terms used against me in a clinical setting, it's definitely traumatic. Just stop!

This is deeply insulting to all #NHSComms staff who work hard to provide staff, patients, the public & yes, the media, with all the information they need. If anything, comms is under-resourced in the NHS and to spuriously link our roles with the waiting list crisis is offensive.
🔴 Investigation reveals £57 million spent last year on communications - including 1,000 officers - amid mounting crisis on the front line

I know what a devastating impact a fall can have on a person's life. It's been a privilege to work with teams across @GSTTnhs to produce information that I hope will help people who are at risk stay safe and get any support they might need.
We know that having a fall can knock your confidence, as well as your physical health. For #FallsPreventionAwarenessWeek we've launched new online information for people at risk of falls, and their loved ones or carers. https://t.co/i0GcT8DLKH
