My latest @TIME @madebyhistory. I’ve been doing this long enough to know one shouldn’t read the comments, but…🤷🏻♂️. I am a historian. I’m guided by the archives. I’ve been rereading Trouillot for my grad seminar. And am grateful for his wisdom: “history is the fruit of power.”.

I appreciate so much of what he adds here. We discussed it in my public history grad seminar last night. It’s just not a nice statue & it obviously doesn’t come close to reflecting his skill for the game or his work for the community. Statues can come to life in many ways.
