Whether it was my friend Keisha who had the best memorization skills or my neighbor Ms. Dee, who was a caregiver for her disabled son & the cool cup/candy lady — she was the first person to teach me about product & inspired me to create my candy selling biz in 5th grade. (6/9)

But it’s not lost on me that I’m not smarter or more hard working than any of my South Park classmates or neighbors. Many of the people in South Park were some of the most brilliant and resourceful people I have ever known. (5/9).

I still remember how pristine the school bushes were; I had never seen anything like it before. I’m not sure how my life would’ve ended up without being exposed to curriculum and experiences that stretched me beyond my wildest imagination. I became a competitive Mathlete. (4/9)

The elementary school I attended received little state funding. My second grade teacher saw something in me and told my mom I should take a scholastic test. My scores were off the charts in math, and I was then bussed to a new magnet school on the west side of town. (3/9)

When I was in second grade, my family lived in South Park Houston Texas. I don’t remember a single night the police wasn’t in the neighborhood. It was the most active yet safest neighborhoods I lived in as a kid because of the way the community looked out for each other. (2/9)
