13/ After over a month in detention, the Venezuelan man arrived home with severe injuries from beatings. “The guards inside beat him so badly that he has serious injuries on his body. He was crying when he came,” his sister recounted. .

12/ The sister of a Venezuelan man taken by Panamanian officers was told her brother was accused of property damage. She sent $125 for his release, as instructed, but he was instead transferred to detention for deportation, where he endured severe abuse for more than a month.
