10/ I don’t want that for my kid. Or yours. Today I'm partnering with @openlabelrf, @jwmares, and Light Labs to run the most comprehensive tests on formula, ever. We're crowdfunding to test:. - Heavy metals.- Pesticides.- Plastics (BPA, phthalates).- Mycotoxins.- And more!.

9/ The result:. - Outdated rules.- Unsafe ingredients.- No competition.- Fragile supply (remember Abbott’s Michigan plant shutdown → 43% out-of-stock nationwide!). Parents are left asking: which formula is least bad? . It's messed up.

8/ U.S. formula is controlled by 3 giants: Abbott, Reckitt, Nestlé. Their power comes from WIC, the federal program that buys over 50% of all formula. Each state gives one exclusive contract. Win it, and you own the shelves. These 3 companies spend millions on lobbying.

7/ Meanwhile, in Europe, they have:. - Strict contaminant limits in finished formula.- Batch-by-batch testing.- Flexibility in fat blends (less seed oil reliance). This is why European formulas dominate parent group chats.

6/ And some of those nutrient rules have unintended consequences. Take fats: The Code of Federal Regulations requires at least 300 mg of linoleic acid per 100 calories, which practically mandates using seed oils, which we know can cause metabolic dysfunction.

5/ Formula is heavily regulated. But not for what you think. The 1978–79 Syntex Formula Scandal led to the Infant Formula Act of 1980. The problem?. The law was written to prevent nutrient deficiencies, not protect babies from modern threats like toxic contaminants.

4/ Recent formula tests across Consumer Reports, Plastic List, Oasis, and others have found:. Arsenic → lower IQ & learning disabilities.Lead → ADHD & behavior problems.PFAS → cancer & immune suppression.Glyphosate → neurodevelopment issues. This list goes on. .

3/ Formula isn’t niche. It’s how America feeds its babies. According to the CDC, 20% of newborns start life entirely on formula. By 6 months, ~75% of babies have it in their diet. Even die-hard breastfeeders often end up supplementing with formula at some point.
