IMHO Gen Z adheres to stereotypical ideas of male and female much more than Gen X did. 5/5.

While they feel free to not use the biologically based terms, it is often because they have become more rigid about feminine interests and characteristics as belonging to girls/women and masculine interests and characteristics as belonging to boys/men. 4/5.

For example, a girl may not want to identify as a girl because she sees herself as not into girly things, like hair and makeup. A boy might not identify as a boy because he feels the pressure to be stereotypically masculine. 3/5.

We have to think not only about if youth say they decry stereotypes but how they live. Gender identity is in itself an adherence to stereotypes. We hear this when we start to explore the meaning that youth give to the terms they use about gender. 2/5.

The Cass Review states, "Changes in beliefs about gender identity in Generation Z have led to much more flexible thinking about how gender is expressed, and a move away from gender stereotypes.". With due respect to Cass, I think this is a faulty interpretation. 1/5.

It's so easy to throw out disparaging terms, but when we actually have to state to beliefs of another person, it humanizes them. We can start to see that even if we disagree, we can see motivation for their ideas that aren't stupidity or hatred.

Instead of "She's a transphobe," we would say things like, "She doesn't believe males who have raped women should be in female prisons.".

Instead of "She's such a SJW snowflake", we could say, "She wants to see kids in impoverished areas have reading proficiency programming.".

What if, instead of lobbing terms at each other, we gave an honest description of what they think?.

I have no knowledge of Feuchs. The fact that he supports Trump probably means I disagree with him on a lot of things. But I remain one of those old fashioned liberals who believes that free speech is not just for speech I like. 7/7.
